    RS warranty replacement – the S2?

    Hi – my LBS has just informed me that the warranty replacement for my broken RS is the S2, not a R3, as I’d previously been told. Can anyone advise if this dictated by Cervelo or by Madison, the UK distributor? I’m a bit unhappy about this – if I’d wanted an S2, I’d have bought an S2. I bought the RS for a reason – the geometry and the ‘comfort’ factor. Andy

    Pick up your phone and call Toronto directly...do not rely on your distributor or LBS to advocate for you on your replacement. Yes, you are correct, the S2 is a VERY different bike then the R3. They may be offering you and S2 because that is all that is in stock so you will need to let them know that you are willing to wait for an R3 or RS replacement. EM3

     If calling across the pond is an issue for you, another option is to email Cervelo via the "Company" and then "Support" links on the homepage.  They are very responsive to emails as well.  What you were told by your LBS certainly doesn't sound right.  Guys replacing SLT's/S1's under warranty are getting S2's without an upgrade charge, so I don't think it's a money thing.  Hope you get your mess sorted.

    Depending on size...it may not be available till the end of he year. The head tube in the S2 is some 20mm shorter than the RS.

    @jpdmd25: there are no more RS frames left - it's a discontinued frame. @Six to 2: 58cm

    Just had my RS warrantied to an R3, then paid to upgrade to the Team frame. Actually just dropped my RS off at my shop today, should have my R3 Team tomorrow, can't wait! Only took a little under 3 weeks from first contacting my shop to having the frame delivered, very happy with cervelo's warranty process.

    Curious. How are these RSs failing? What merited the warranty replacement? I have a 2008 RS with SRAM Force. The frame has developed some creaking sounds when riding, just haven't been able to troubleshoot the source yet.

    Re: RS warranty replacement – the S2?

    Mine was a cracked seat tube, hit a big pothole while seated and my seatpost dropped a couple inches. When I readjusted it I noticed a crack. Wasn't sure they would warranty it but they did and I opted for the team R3, which is awesome by the way. I had a terrible time tracing down an annoying creak. It turned out that my rear skewer had worked ts way loose and rubbed/warn a flat spot so when I tried to tighten it it would move slightly and squeak/creak.
