    3t Funda vs. Funda Pro

I was in looking at (drooling over) some new Cervelo's and some of the bikes had the 3T Funda Pro forks (with Funda Pro painted on the fork) and then other Cervelo's a 3T forks that just had Funda painted on the fork (not Funda Pro).
Is there a difference between a Funda and a Funda Pro?????????
    Thanks

    ?

I know there is a Funda Team (with Funda Team painted on the fork) and a Funda Pro (with Funda Pro painted on the fork) as shown in the 3t brochure.

But the forks I saw simply had Funda on them (no Team or Pro lettering). So is there a 3rd model just called the Funda? If not, and there is just "Funda" painted on the fork, how do you know if it is the Team or Pro version?

    Thanks

Tagging along in this thread, I'm also curious to know if the weight savings of the Funda Team fork comes from a less thick carbon steerer tube or something.. which isn't very good considering the hoo-ha over the Wolf SL forks.

Sorry about that....I do not think there is just a Funda Fork, but I do know that some people that have the RS (which comes with a Funda Pro) do have fork that just says Funda so I assume that the Funda is the Funda Pro.  I have had two 3T forks on my RS and both have said Funda Pro (the insert in the first came out so the LBS replaced it with a new fork).

I had the same question about the difference and talked to the Cervelo customer service rep who checked it out and found there to be no difference in the Funda and Funda Pro.  It would seem they would not want to create more questions about forks by not labeling them the same if they are the same.  His response was maybe it was for marketing purposes, seems strange to me but they are actually specing Funda and Funda Pro on different models.

Probably putting the 'Pro' on higher end bikes to make them seem more 'prestigious' but will put either on any bike depending on stock availability....

I saw the same thing. On the Cervelo website, the RS specs actually lists a Funda fork under the DA package and a Funda Pro under the LTD Edition SRAM Force package. Makes no sense.....Cervelo needs to do something about the guy in charge of forks......

Your right got2ride, it makes no sense.  Check out the high dollar R3 sl and the SLC sl Sram Red bikes, spec'd with Funda forks as opposed to Funda Pro?

I would like to compliment Cervelo regarding customer service.  My bike came with a Easton EC 90 SL, I did not like the looks or the feel, to cushy.  We asked Cervelo for a 3T and they did the exchange.  What a difference, the 3T appears to be a real winner, I have used it for three months.  Hopefully they stick to the 3T which appears to be the strategy.

All I recall reading is that the Team was made using a higher grade of carbon, which makes it lighter than the Pro, but otherwise they're supposedly the same.  Their website never mentioned a third "plain" model, so I'm guessing the generic Funda must just be the Pro.

I talked to Cervelo and asked them why some 3t forks say only Funda and why others say Funda Pro. Cervelo said they are exactly the same fork, the Funda is the Funda Pro. Apparently the "Pro" lettering was mistakenly left off a production run.

I was wondering about that as well.  Specs. say Funda Pro, my RS ltd. edition says Funda.  Good to know that they are the same fork, otherwise I'd be after the pro - truth in advertising!

    Philg,

Did you ask Cervelo to do that exchange before you rode on the Easton at all?  I assume that the Easton was already cut - they took that back?  I have same Easton fork, but am considering going with 3T - but I have like 500 miles on mine (R3-SL).  Thanks.

    rcharrod,

The Easton was uncut and ridden only 50 miles or so.  I got support from my LBS and the exchange was made.  I hope you can get the 3T, it looks great on the R3 SL, saw one just today, and the performance is far better.  The front end feel is totaly different, more control, stiffer, just more confidence inspiring.

Well, this has gone in a little different direction than the original post but....I had purchased a new Easton EC 90 SLX fork to replace an old fork on my Serotta.  I couldn't pass up the price.   When the Wolf SL recall came up on my R3 SL, I decided to try the Easton on the R3 SL.  The steer tube length turned out to be identical for the two bikes.

In every kind of climbing, descending, sprinting, flat riding I can do,  I can tell no difference between the Easton SLX and the Wolf SL forks except they sound different and I had to adjust the brake pads by about 5 mm.   I think I can feel a little difference in terms of side winds when riding no hands........the Easton seems a bit less afftected.  Go figure.

I am on a 51 cm, 5' 7" , 150 lbs. and almost 60 yrs old and ride hard bu I probably don't put the forces on it that many can.

When the replacement Funda comes I'll put that on and see if I can tell anything.
