I firmly believed you did exactly the right thing in recalling the Wolf SL and you have confirmed my original reason for choosing Cervelo (care for your customers).  I really liked the Wolf SL but my R3SL is now sitting in the living room with its 3T funda fitted. It is still the most beautiful bike in the World.

My dealer was fantastic and my only comment about the recall was that when I phoned him up he'd only just heard about it.  I'm not sure whether you communicate via national distributors but maybe the comms could have been a bit smoother.

    A very pleased customer.

Has anyone noticed that the new S3 comes standard with the new 3T Funda Team fork according to the website. I thought that Gérard said that they did not have enough time to test the Team Version hence the Pro Version. Seems to me that they had enough time to test it for their new bike!!!! Detail off the website below.

MSam, do you think Gerard and the folks at Cervelo just woke up one day a couple weeks ago and decided "hey, let's do a recall today"?  Although I don't know the specifics in this case, undertaking a mass recall takes a long time (testing, sourcing replacements, logistics, etc., not to mention the government entanglement).  It is very plausible that the Team fork was not available when all of this started.  And maybe, the testing they did on the Team fork was done using a pre-production prototype or one from a small early batch.  That happens sometimes with new products.

Also, name me another major (not the little independents) bike manufacturer that has a person in Gerard's position that is willing to put himself/herself out there on the forums to provide us whiny-ass cyclists with information.  Doubt you will find any.

    Hello Guys,

i just receive my new 3t fork and just want to know something :

i carefully read the instructions manual and it seems there is no limit as with the wofl sl.

with the wolf sl the max steerer lenght was 80mm above the headset, and with the 3T, no limits ?

    Thanks

Update on the new 3T Funda fork. Like a few of you I was a bit sad to see the Wolf SL go as I thought it looked the part and it handled well. I had no problem getting the fork changed in the recall and was impressed with the appearance of the 3T though  I was not too sure about the flair half way down the forks. Anyway as some of you may have read in a previous thread I was impressed with the handling but hadn't tried it out in "combat" particularly steep technical descents. Well I did just that on Sunday and it was brilliant. It could not be knocked off line, carved a turn beautifully and felt super stable even at warp speed. Pure brilliant

I don't think that's quite what he said, to be fair to him. IIRC, he said that under the "rules" of the recall, Cervelo could only offer a fork which has been tested and shown not to fail in the circumstances in which a Wolf SL would fail. AFAIK, there's no requirement for company X to test a bought in product manufactured by company Y that's being offered to the market as a new product (although you might hope that co Y had done the relevant testing).

bragging on my lbs owner. I knew about the recall. my season was over about 3 weeks ago due to travel ramping up. lbs owner called me Sunday and said lets ride. During the ride he said, "you're forks are recalled, bring your bike by." He was also aware of the "freewheeling" when the chain falls between the rings. He was all over it and told me to bring the bike in next week as I am on the road. What a great shop to seek me out to make sure I knew about the recall and bike deficiencies. Cervelo, OKC vendor is a great rep for you. He races and gets another frame for free with a local team. But, he told another buddy off the record that if he had to BUY a bike it would most certainly be the slc-sl. Best bike by far. thank lbs. And thanks Cervelo for making a tough call.

Re: Wolf SL being recalled by Cervélo --> Not so great service from The Bike Boutique

I'm located in Singapore, and my experience with the local Cervelo distributor The Bike Boutique isn't so great for this Wolf SL recall. Was told by TBB that only Easton forks were available for exchange here, therefore no 3T Fundas for us here, so I emailed Cervelo about it, and they were seemingly open to the idea of me specially requesting for the 3T fork from TBB.

But sadly, The Bike Boutique refused to do so, so now I've got to aliase with an International distributor who can allow me to do the exchange. I'd rather pay for shipping to get the 3T fork on my SLC-SL rather than the Easton. :(

Sorry mate. Easton just doesn't work. I agree with you. Best of luck. I trust it will work out. I'd pay whatever to avoid Easton.

    Hi,

I want to show an Idea how to use the old Wolf SL Forks. I have finished this project today and want to optimize it with another desk top made of glass instead of this acrylglass one.

    Hi Bigbarge,

I am expecting a replacement fork to arrive soon from Bike Boutique. I have no idea which one it is. I had assumed that both must be good forks therefore didn't worry about it. So I am interested to know why you say you'd "pay whatever to avoid Easton". What's wrong with the Easton fork?

By the way, it's interesting to see that at the Bike Boutique web site they sell the 3T Funda Pro fork but not the Easton fork!?

JB, nothing is "wrong" from what I can tell. Just personal preference on my part. I don't like the way they look on the bike...after spending $6000+ US, looks do matter :). Others in the thread had some more substantive thoughts I think. Best regards, Barge

     Hi BB,

Thanks for your reply. My fork's arrived (but I haven't seen it yet due to traveling). It's the Easton fork. Yes I agree look do matter and I agree the straight blades look cooler than the traditional curved blades. Ah well.

    Best regards, JB.
