Hey Veloci1, I have a R3 with Campy wheels which are getting towards the end of their life and consigned to spare status. I was considering the Hed Ardennes and was wondering how they behave. Any issues with bracke due to rim width etc. Thanks Hazza

Hey Letour ..... this is what i have in mind Frame: 2008 Cervelo R3 size 51 ( i bought the frameset already) Group: still deciding between 2009 campy centaur and Sram ( force or red).. but im leaning towards campy Handlebar: FSA K force carbon compact size 42 Stem: FSA OS-99 carbon Bar tape: Fizik in white saddle: still deciding between Selle italia SLC/Flite in white or team edition or Fizik Aliante in white Wheels: I kinda like your campagnolo eurus in black looking at campy neutron ultra, mavic ksyrium SL and Fulcrum racing 1 as well. Bottle cage: I need suggestion on these one. These are what i have in mind right now... let me know what you think... How do you like your campy eurus? and to the rest of feel free to make suggestions and comments as this will help me and give me more ideas. Looking forward to your reply.

For what it is worth I would stay to the same chain set / group set and not mix and match. I had a FSA chain set with a campy group set and I had the chance to go to a chorus chain set and have not regretted it at all. Just seems to work best that way

Hazza, the wheels are just fast and light. i am 185 lbs and have not felt any weakness on these wheels. they are great climbing and on the flats as well as on descents. since they are wider than most other wheels, you will have to adjust you brake calipers for the width. no real issue, it just that your calipers need to be adjusted. if you switch between wheels often, someone recomended riding the calipers in the open position whenever you ride the Ardennes and closing them whenever you go to a regular wheels.by the way, the extra contact patch of the tires created by the width of these wheels seem to really make me feel more confident on turns. i get to lean the bike more on turns.

its a 54cm i havent had it on the scales as yet but im gessing itll be inbetween the 6 - 7 kg mark where i had it built up didnt have scales handy but said it should be closer to the 6kg mark judging by its pickup

 its absolutly amazing to ride i will never buy anything bar a cervelo again atm its simply amazing

Love all the red! What kind of shifters are you running? I have DA 7800 and would like to tuck the shifter leads, just want to know if it's possible with the DA. Thanks

The shifters are the Dura/Ace 7900 that came out this year, which allows you to route the cables internally.

 

 

My R3 with Hed Ardennes and Fulcrum RRS crank. Sram Red FD and Shifters by mid-April.
