You should have a job at Cervelo designing their paint schemes they really need help especially the 09 paint schemes and patterns.

Those are both very strong color schemes. I love the boldness and balance of the S2 scheme, and i find the lively movement coupled with delicate strokes that you've achieved on the RS truly inspired. So good in fact that the chick come-on is superflous. It's a shame that Cervelo's color schemes are so pedestrian. Actually, beneath pedestrian. The efforts in all 3 road of their road models come off as an after thought. It's an injustice to the art of their engineering and creates the circumstance where a consumer will purchase one of their bikes not because of the contributive asset of the color scheme, but inspite of it. Not good. Lots and lots and lots of room for improvement.

I agree that you've done an excellent job, but for me the R3 is the better of the two. It's a shame that when most manufacturers are adopting more contemporary designs, Cervelo seems to be turning back the clock rather than moving forward!

I like the R3.  Agree that Cervelo could liven up their paint schemes!

Personally I prefer the standard Cervelo colours - each to their own eh?!

Cervelo's colour schemes do (to me) certainly look like they've been done by engineers rather than designers. Still, their product, their call.

The S2 design above is, I suspect, not sufficiently different to the SLC it replaced to be viable as a marketing proposition. The R3 is nice, but it looks like it has an integrated seart post, so that's a bit of a problem.

Here's the thing though. Eyecatching as both designs are, they're stylistically quite different. Cervelo has certain paintscheme touches that are consistent across their entire range of bikes. So, how about trying to come up with a suite of designs for the range?

You should design a jersey that says "I'm riding a cervelo" on the back to match, and maybe sunglasses, leg/arm warmers..etc...just in case nobody sees the decals. Maybe a tow behind lighted sign also?

Both bikes look great! If it was me I'd put a Cervelo logo on the hot babe's coat or remove the coat to reveal a bikini clad-Cervelo tatooed babe.

I like both bikes. I would be interested to hear how you did that. The R3 is really something! Good job.

Good effort but for me your designs are a bit too 'busy'. I like the current designs as they are understated. For example I think the S2 would be better without the Cervélo livery on the fork and the R3 is too much and has too many patterns, the one on the top of the seattube being the best example.

    Re: Dream on my Cervèlo

'Understatement' in the context you use it would seem to connote something positive, classic, which draws it power from its very quietude; the small black party dress or more appropriately, the black on black pinarello prince which is probably the best current example of successful 'understatement'. The current cervelo designs can accurately be called minimalist but certainly not understated. For eg., the color breaks on the S1 are minimal and simple, but because of the particular colors and proportions, the overall visual impact is rather loud, not understated. Unfortunately, it is also boring and unbalanced. In the same way, that Cervelo prides itself in not offering up new models just for the sake of it, but only when they have designs and technologies which warrant a new model, so too should they stick with successful color breaks and graphics, until they come up with ones which are significant upgrades. This is certainly not the case for the 2008 - 2009 road bikes. Clearly, the visual look of their bike is not as important to them as their engineering. More power to them. In that case, they should accentuate that credo and go full bore toward the form follows function approach and completely away from bold colors and flashy graphics. Right now, they are somewhere in between, and really not successful at either.
