10 speed campagnolo rear mech on 09 Soloist

    Hi there,

Built up my Soloist with centaur kit, running a campag centaur carbon rear mech. I cannot achieve proper alignment on the rear mech (keeps skipping). My beautiful machine sounds like a weaving shed! Kit is all in good fettle. Anyone else suffering like this? I suspect its the not so direct internal cable routing thats causing this.

    Cheers,

I've had a few issues with Campag on Cervelo. Is the lock-ring catching on the mech hanger? Is the hanger bent? Sometimes the hanger requires a slight 'tweak' as the drop-out sits at a slightly offline angle. Best using a Park Tools DAG-1 or equiv. I assume you know how to tune gears correctly? May jus be a set-up/spec issue rather than a cervelo issue???

I had a number of initial niggles setting up Campagnolo Chorus on my 2007 R3 (my last bike was a 1984 Raleigh which I fitted with Chorus in 1987 - 6-speed in those days, so I was a little rusty). The 10-speed rear derailleur adjustments are really sensitive. Worth following the Park Tools website guide to setting up your rear derailleur and remembering that the cable adjuster on the derailleur only needs a very small turn to make a big difference. When my gears sound out of true (i.e. chain rub on next gear up - clicking noise, or chain drops to next gear down) I only tweak it 1/8th of a turn at a time at most.

    Hope that helps...

     Number one tip

Much as I love everything Cervelo - the rear gear hanger is horrid

Swap to a Wheels Manufacturing one  - really cant understand why Cervelo dont supply one of this quality - Campag just doesnt seem to work on a Cervelo without one

This has applied to an Alloy Soloist, a SLC and an RS all perfect after the switch with no other adjustment or realignment.
