I bought a Catlike Whisper Plus from wiggle. I read online that the 2009 medium size was bigger so I had some doubts when I ordered. I've worn medium sized Giro Atmos, Bell Sweep and Lazer Genesis helmets and all fit fine. My head circumference (measured around the forehead where the helmet sits) is 56cm. The medium Whisper Plus is about 1cm too big. I'm wondering if the small will be too small or will fit. Has anybody had a similar experience? If anybody has a small, can you please measure your head (or the inside of the helmet) and tell me if there is any room to go bigger or smaller. Thanks!

 Just a comment- before you try and change to a small, (I have a medium and it BARELY fits me-I CAN'T wear a cap underneath it... I wear a 7 3/8 US normally,)

Consider wearing a cycling cap underneath it.  I prefer to wear a cap under my helmets as they absorb the sweat, provide a small sun visor, and protect against getting stung by bees.    

In cooler weather, it's great to have a cap under your helmet. 

I mostly bike on Maui and ALWAYS wear a cap underneath, and it's usually 88-90F at sea level, and around 70F where I bike up to on Haleakula and ride around. I've run into bees three times since wearing a cap, and it's prevented any problems. I started using a cap under the helmet after getting stung riding in KONA. (I hit the bees at about 33 mph and by the time I got stopped and my helmet off, I got stung 3 times!!)

I'm not a big fan of the cap under the helmet. I'm in Perth, Australia where the usual temperature in February is 88F so it's not really practical. I'm still interested if anybody has a small and can comment about the size. Thanks again!

 

I'm not a fan of caps either.  They make me too hot, even the ones that advertise that they cool you off.  Of course, I have never been stung by a bee, wasp or hornet while riding. ;-)  Guess I won't ride on my next trip to the big island.

Buying a helmet without being able to try it on is risky.  You may save a few $ but lack the support and flexibility of a good LBS.

By all means do ride!! I ride a LOT over on the Islands, and often in locations others don't,

so don't be hesitant al all. I haven't run into any Bees recently, (none in the past 4000 miles/9months) but have taken a few hits from bugs on the sunglasses. I make sure to ride with clear lenses when I launch before sunrise, as, of course, I ride past fish ponds and various remote areas and....I find all the bugs just before daybreak!!

Sorry, another medium Catlike user here. How you get your head into a small i will never know. I tried on a small but it was so uncomfortable, although it did fit, because of the shape it dug into me. I went for a medium which is a perfect fit. I can also wear a cap underneath if i feel the need too.

Did you end up buying a size small catlike whisper?? Did it fit??I have the same issue. I wear size medium in giro atmos and lazer genesis, the new catlike whisper size medium is too big, im scared to spend the $ and buy a size small, assuming it will not fit.

I ended up with two brand new in box catlike whisper, white, size medium. if anyone interested in purchasing, i can ship. will sell for retail price.

Hi nicobici, I haven't got the courage up to buy another small as the shipping to Oz if so expensive. I'll let you know if I do though. I'm still hoping that somebody out there has a small and can let me know how big it is or how big their head is and whether it fits. Cheers

Hello Gracie, I am about to exchange one of my size medium's for a small, I am even considering shaving off a few millimeters off of the inner foam (which is very thick to begin with), just in case the small is slightly too snug.......I will let you know how it goes..... are the older versions of Catlike a different shape? many of the guys I ride with, have the older catlikes and the helmet seems to be more compact. Thanks mate! If you could let me know that would be great. I've read a few people who have had the 08 models and switched to the 09. Everyone one of them prefers the 08 but since you can't get them anymore, it's not really an option. I would be happy if the small fits. Cheers again!
