I have been reading and following many threads on this forum for some time now, and today i decided to join.  

I am looking for a used 2009 S1 in 51 cm.  If any have or know someone who is selling their S1, please PM me the information or contact info.

hey cheers for the head-up Thom_y.  The Rock is back in full force after struck down with ankle injury. Well, well, well what do we have here then. Just as when Rock stepped away for what seems like ages, 51 Soloist Team pops-up in an anodized finish - - it's only grey tho so not as excited as if it were jet black (2006). I see the bike is in Vancouver and i'm in the UK :( Remember that 30% fee (customs import duty and vat here in the UK) so lets see how the figures stack up.

@ Julian13  can you PM me with details of your SLT (anodized grey), miles done, condition, frame only or complete bike, pics etc and how much you are looking for? I am in the UK. cheers!

?!?? Even on used items???

 Oh yeah tell me about it. If Rock's done his homework correctly, the UK Customs and Excise will hit you HARDER than Tyson! 

15% import duty + 15% VAT on the purchase invoice value of your bike. !!!This applies to a used as well as a new bike!!! Tell me if I am wrong, as I would like to import a frame or a complete bike (from US/Canada because there appears to be best value and also more sellers willing to part with their used Cervelos when they upgrade than what I can find in the UK as trust me I have looked all over for that anodized beauty - the only Cervelo 4me, No Compromise - will hunt until I find one) for less than what I would have to pay for here in the UK.

Unless anyone who has had the joy of not having to pay this when they imported a bike into the UK from US/Canada. I'm not talking about E.U. countries here where I think you just pay the VAT.

And from Jan 2010 the VAT goes back to 17.5% in the UK.

Forget looking for some antiquated expensive anodized Soloist Team.  Buy a cheap, on sale 2009 S1 or 2008 if you can find and then have a custom paint job performed like this chap:

You will be able to produce a flat black S1 better than anything you will find painted by cervelo to date.

OMG!  where did you get her looking like that....wow she's a beaut!  iShould be able to get hold of a used 51cm SLT or S1 where the owner hasn8t registered the bike yet so effectively I would get the Lifetime when I register it, but only downside --- won8t custom painting void the 'Lifetime' warranty?

Just to clarify, UK duty is only 15% on complete  bikes (I researched this and tested it the hard way a number otimes) frames and parts are either 5 or 7%. Do a search of my posts and you will find a picture in the "pictures of your cervelo" thread to be going on with.

 Uk import duty is 15% but don8t forget to add VAT on top which is another 15% for both new and used bikes. iHope you are right! I'm only going by what UK HM Customs & Excise duty office told me.

Rock, these posts seem to support my recollection that duty is less on parts than the complete bike, bear in mind it was 9 months ago, as I can't recall if VAT was 17.5% at that poiont but any way it confirms you are looking at 5-7.5% duty.
