    S1 colours

    I'm looking to by a S1, hopefully a new one but would buy used at the right price. Is there somewhere I can obtain images of the colours for the recent frames, 2010, 2009 are easily available. But how about earlier models 2008, 2007, 2006? I ask because I don't want someone trying to pass off a frame to be newer than it is.

    Check the SN on the BB housing of the frame. It will tell you in which model year it was made. Usually "08" for 2008, "07" for 2007 and so on, in the first sequence of the SN.

    @jfm

    I should know this with my eyes shut :)  S1 colours as follows;

    2008 - silver/red

    2007 - anodized gunmetal grey all over (stunning but not as stealthy as the one I'm after)

    2006 - anodized jet black - THE ONE that Rock fell in love with :))

    ....but hey there's plenty of pics of S1's and others in all different builds and colours to drool over so check out the thread "Picture of your Cervelo" on this forum.

    Have fun!

    WOW, WOW, WOW, the 2006 jet black is the dogs. No sure about the 2007 grey nor the 2008 silver/red. But do like the 2009 and the 2010 colours. Other than the colours are there any significant differences in the frames? I'm gonna buy an S1 most likely new but will consider used at the right price if colour is the only difference?

    all frames you're looking at are exactly the same. personally i think they really dropped the ball with the 2010 colors. i'd get a 2009 frame marked down and build if i were you. that's just my opinion though. it's a wicked bike. really great choice. enjoy!

    I think the new S1 colors are ok, more aggressive looking than the 2009 colors.

    too many colors for me. i like the classic look of 2009 and previous paint. if i can't get a '09 i'll just paint an '10 black.

    the '10 will probably grow on me and i bet when i see one on the road i'll want that one too! red and black is always cool. just too busy.

    yeah, the jet black is the best frame ever. i'm happy with my grey anodized but not as cool as the darker one.

    Just go to Google, and click on the Images link. Type in "2007 Cervelo Soloist" and you'll be inundated with pics.

    I’m a big Cervelo Soloist Team/S1 fan, so don’t take this wrong, but the progression of colors for the S1/Solist Team leads me to believe Cervelo is intentionally making this frame uglier and uglier to drive sales down so they can stop production and focus on carbon only.

    Why else would they stop producing the black anodized which was easily the most popular. And I don’t think it’s coincidence the rest of the styles and colors for the 2010 line are all an improvement to every model, except the S1.At least that's my opinion.

    What are they thinking?

    Re: S1 colours

    i've got to believe that they are still selling a lot of S1s. it would be bad business for them to discontinue their alu frames. if they wanted to they would just discontinue it. they shouldn't because it's the only serious bike available for the price. it's the only alu bike that can compete with carbons.

    i think they tried to make it more flashy and failed. lets wait to see how the '10s look on the road though.

    i think all of the new paint jobs are pretty bad except for the S3. it's black so you can't really see the horrible stripe pattern. cervelo should keep their paint classic and simple like they have done up until the '10 models.

    Re: S1 colours

    I'm sorry, I was being sarcastic. I really like the new R3 paint scheme, it's awesome, the R3sl is very nice, the RS is good, The S2 and S3 seem a bit conservative, but I'd take either of those on the S1. I'd be ordering my S1 size 61cm right this second if they still offered the black anodized or any of the other finishes mentioned here on the other 2010 models.

    I'm still contemplating if I can stand the S1's paint to buy one. I'm on the fence, not sure I can live with it. I know color shouldn't matter, just performance, but I think most people will agree there's certain extra umpff when you really like the look of the bike your on, or lack there of when you don't like the look of your ride. Why couldn't they just make it a plain white or black?

    i have a 09 S1 and my first sequence of numbers after the letters of the SN are "08",, its the red/white S1 and usually those are the "09" models..

    Could it be the 08 is indeed the year, but no the sales / model year but year of manufacture?
