    Decision made, it's the S1

As it's a nailed on certainty that I'm to get an S1 frame, 51cm. What do you recommend I build on? Bearing in mind: I'm in my 40s weight 140lb ride maximum of 100miles a week currently average 18mph - hope the S1 will improve it will do a couple of triathlons next year - my first ones budget £1k not including frame

Great choice to go with the S1. I have logged over 2200 miles on my 08 Soloist Team this year and the ride keeps getting better. The frame is completely responsive and takes the road extremely well. I thought about upgrading to an S2 or even an R3 and at this point I dont even think I will consider it for atleast another year. One thing thats amazing about this bike is that its truely limitless. Im looking at upgrading to Sram Red and some lighter weight wheels. I cant say enough things about how great this bike truely is.

     Good Luck with your build!

i'm also a proud owner of an '08 SLT (S1). i'm also going to red w/ zipp team issues. for crank i'll probably get vuma quad if i don't have red crank.

congrats it's the best bike on freakin' earth.

if you're older you may want to run 25s for smoother ride on long rides and training. save your Pro 3s for race day.

JohnMA, What are 25s? Do you mean 700 x 25? If yes, I'm past my 20s but not yet old ;-)

    Welcome to the club :)

You've made a wise decision on the S1!  I have an '09 and love it.

I would build the bike with SRAM Rival (that's what I did) -- it is a very good grouppo, and for the money you can't beat it. That will leave you more money for a better wheelset or other parts like saddle, handlebars, etc.

With a 51cm frame, it will be plenty light -- it'll be a sweet ride!

Let us know your impressions once you get it built.
