    Slight bump on braking surface

Just looking for opinions as to whether this should be a concern or not. I've had my S1 about 3 1/2 weeks at this point. I've put about 200 miles on it, and it performs as expected. When my LBS was putting it together, the store manger told me to come in and check it out when it was in the "rolling chassis" stage (wheels, no tires). As we were admiring it, he grabbed the seatpost to mount it on a a stand, and lo and behold the clamp was loose. My brand new Ksyrium Elites along with frame fell onto the floor on the rim edges. The manager caught the bike in the upright position and inspected the wheels. Things appeared to be okay, but today I was just inspecting the bike, and noticed a small bump near the edge of the rear wheel. there's definitely a small raised area where the rim hit the floor. The wheel appears true but the integrity of the braking surface is slightly compromised. I will be going to my LBS for an adjustment, and will bring this up. I'm wondering if I should demand a new rear wheel?

I can't even believe you are asking the forum this question. Yes, yes and YES. Get a replacement wheel. It's brand new for goodness sake.

    Just a question-PMFJI,

With a little fraying of the tire, I'd ask if  by chance hit a sharp corner of a hole in the pavement, since you mentioned it was dropped without tires on it... But then again, it doesn't even look like you've ridden it!

Just asking if it's a different dent.

Have only ridden on our paved trail system since I got the bike. The trails are smooth and new, and I have never hit a bump. I would assume that the slight fraying is a result of the tire filling the sharp edged gap that was created by the drop.

The new picture with that sharp edge just showed up as I viewed the picture again. Yea,

I'd ask the question. Best of luck. Hope it's taken care of to your total satisfaction.

    Best,

    Jeff

Holy schnikes, AlohaJC aka Macguyver, that is a GREAT pickup on the photo closeup! CSI should be that good. That said, I'm inclined to agree with the OP: I think that it's the result of the tire pushing into the crease under pressure while riding. As the OP as already mentioned just above, I still think that best thing to do is have the LBS try to make good on it. Man, brand new wheels and already a scuff. Hurts so bad. Hope it works out in your favor.

Just got back from my LBS with a brand new rear wheel. They even threw in a pair of LOOK cleat covers for my inconvenience. Like I said, good people!
