Go back to your dealer and tell them someone screwed up because you are supposed to get a SL fork. Have the dealer contact Cervelo customer service and see what happened and what they can do for you.

Re: Wolf CL fork came with my Soloist-SL??

Taken from Cervelo's website "Specs may change without notice." I take this to mean the fork as well as other components. From reading other posts, people have had their frame show up with either a Wolf SL, Wolf CL, Easton EC90 SLX, Alpha Q GS-10, Alpha Q GS-20. This is due to production problems with the Wolf SL at True Temper (Alpha Q). As well, some seat posts have been substituted. A few days ago somebody said they received a "Cervelo" stamped seat post instead of the Syntace P6 that was supposed to come with the R3-SL. Even though the website says it can happen, I really don't think it's a good policy. If you order a Pinarello Prince, you are going to get the ONDA fork. If you order a LOOK 595, you're going to get the HSC 6 every time. Even a small mail order company like Canyon paints their forks to match their frames and never substitutes components. I guess you can look at it as the frame is what is most important, but it would be nice to know 100% what you are paying for.

It is a natural transition time for the 'bike industry' as well and there could be times where things change, not that its a defense but its pretty standard to see from some companies from year to year and may not be soley one companies 'fault'.

I'm an advocate of the CL just due to adjustability, unless there's a change to the SL's steerer cloumn that I haven't seen you have to glue the compression sleeve in and its fixed once glued so your stuck with whatever steerer length you cut/glue it at. Probably not an issue for most, I've just learned that I like the flexibility in fit and stiffness felt from a star-nut v. any other compression plug's etc.

I am actually looking for a Wolf CL instead of my Wolf SL.  It has a 22.5cm steer tube with about 300 miles on it.  I would gladly work a trade if interested.

Transition time? Pretty standard? What other companies are you talking about that switch out forks? These "swaps" by Cervelo have not been limited to a few weeks or even 1 or 2 months near the end of the production year. Why push a product out when it's not spec'd properly even if you have a policy to save your hide? Why give a customer a seatpost that has not been supplied with frames since the old R 2.5 was around years ago (reference the R3-SL seapost thread) when he is expecting a more modern/better product? Yes they have the policy, but I will still point the finger to fault one company---->Cervelo. Don' get me wrong, I love my R3 and am glad it came with what I thought I was going to get, but if I decide to go with Cervelo again, believe that I will be making sure of what I'm getting before I lay down the money. Especially when we're talking about dishing out around $2500 just for frame and fork. Believe it or not, that's 2 months salary for some people out there and when money is tight but you've been saving for months, you don't want to be gambeling with what shows up at your door (or in the shop).

I'm sure if you are paying the extra money to get the SLC-SL over the Soloist Carbon, you are probably a little concerned about weight. Having a fork show up with an aluminium steerer tube does not help you much. As well, True Temper says that the tube insert produces a very stiff tube http://www.alphaqbike.com/performance_tubing/insertsystem.asp. I adjust my fork at times during the race season. I have two spacers under the stem. When I am at a point where I am a bit more flexible, I move one spacer on top of my stem giving me a more lower/aero position in the drops. No problems with adjustibility. I'm sure you're happy with your CL, but I don't think the OP is (hence the starting of this thread).

I would be pretty annoyed if my SLC-SL had come with a CL fork and would have sent it straight back. I don't think it is acceptable to say "Specs subject to change" and then sell an inferior product at the same price. Is the only difference between the SL and CL the steerer tube and associated weight difference or are the forks themselves different? Is the Wolf TT heavier again? I am wondering why the P3C comes with the CL fork and not the SL.

My SLC-SL came with one of those inserts and star nut, seems to work well as far as I can tell.

Re: Wolf CL fork came with my Soloist-SL??

this is what i see from Cervelo knowledge base....may this answered our question....

For 2007, the Wolf TT will be standard on the Duals and P2 SL models. The Wolf CL will be standard on the Ultegra road bikes and the carbon TT bikes. The  Wolf SL will be standard on the DuraAce road bikes. The P2 SL frameset will ship with the Wolf TT fork, the Soloist Team, R3 and all TT framesets will ship with the Wolf CL, while all other road framesets will ship with the Wolf SL

I believe the OP has an SLC-SL and is put out by Cervelo as a frameset only (no build kit offered). So according to what you found in the Knowledge Base, the SLC-SL and Soloist Carbon would fall under the "all other road framesets" and it should have came with the SL and not the CL like the OP got. Still, some customers are getting an AlphaQ GS-20 or GS-10, Easton EC 90 SLX and a cheaper made seatpost with their order. I have heard Gerard say True Temper was behind on production of the Wolf SL (or something of that nature). Specs are subject to change but they even go as far as switching out parts for ones that aren't in their company catalog (like an Easton fork). Even worse, you end up with some old stock item that's not being produced anymore (like the R3-SL seatpost thread). What gives here Cervelo?

I agree with you. The price of the SL series bikes demands top end parts and if the website shows a picture of the SL fork coming with all SL frame products then thats what should be sent out to the customer. These bikes cost more than most high end bikes and should meet the high criteria that there price tags brings them.

Some American shops are finally telling their customers to possibly expect an Easton EC90 SLX with their 2008 R3/R3-SL/SLC-SL
