2010 S1 sram new force factory stock vs 2010 S1 ultegra sl 6600 with easton ea90 slx

Hi all, I am about to purchase a new bike an can't decide on which S1 package. A stock S1 with the force package or an S1 with ultegra and easton ea90 slx. So it would be 2700 with sram force vs 2200 ultegra +600 ea90 slx =2800. Thank for your input.

Too close to call I tend to use shimano so would lean that way but am tempted to try sram. You cant go wrong with either. May boil down to saving 100 ( guessing US$) and you could spend it on some decent tyres, depends what type of riding you do but I like Vittoria Open Corsa CX's for racing.

I am leaning towards the ultegra setup with the easton ea90 slx for the lighter wheel set up

Shop around for 08 and 09 models if you still can, 600 for that upgrade seems like way too much (or you're just paying retail on the wheels). I would rather upgrade the stock cranks, get a DA7800, or talk to the LBS and see what they have in stock and would like to see moved, like '09 Force, etc.

Just buy the frameset and groupset seperately, frame retails for $1200 for the 2010 model and you can pick up a 2010 force groupset for about $700-800 on eBay. If you go a 2009 model frameset you could get one for about $900 and put the saving towards a better saddle and cockpit as the stock parts are below average.

I could not find a 51 S1 in my area from 2009 or 2008. Also are the cockpit and the saddles for the 2010 S1 that bad that they can be called below average? I think they are fsa for the ultegra groupo and 3T for the sram force and fizik Also still looking for a buy it now price in ebay for sram force under 900 with free shipping. Will continue looking. Thank you for the advice

    Try http://www.excelsports.com/ for the frameset.

I brought my 2010 force groupo on eBay for about $820 delivered a few months ago, not sure of the sellers username though - just contact the seller(s) and negoiate with them cause you can easily knockoff some cash. The stock saddle use to be a San Marco Ponza which IMO is cheap and nasty and the FSA parts where just entry quality just to slap the bike together. You need at least a Fizik saddle (Arione) and the 3T cockpit (stem and bars) which are the way to go, these can easily be purchased on www.wiggle.co.uk with free shipping

     Good luck with the build.

     i run a sram force 2010 on my R3.

I have to say it is a little noisy but work like clockwork.

I love the rear derailleur...it has een the most efficient/accurate piece I have own.

I have had Campy and Ultegra in the past.

bside the noise when you down shift...got to love it.

I must agree with you jackattack, i find riding my S1 with force more efficent then my R3 with the Red setup - maybe its the force FD?

I run the 1090 Red cassette and the Dura Ace 7801 chain with both setups and its almost silent on the S1, provided you use a good lube of course.
