Redcorn, that is a nice!!! ride. look at mine. mine is at 15.9 lbs. how did you get yours so light? we have similar components except for the saddle. do you think there is a pound difference on the saddle? i even have tubulars. my scale has to be screwed up. but, again, nice ride. if you ever in Los Angeles area, let me know and we will set up a ride.

Probably the wheels make the difference, but certainly not 1.5lbs... Check your scale. Mine pictured below weighs in at 14.2 lbs as shown. Wheels are American Classic Mag 350 Clinchers. with Sapim CX Ray spokes at 1185grams per pair. My Frame size is 51cm and the bike is SRAM Force equipped with ZG Ti brake calipers.. BTW I am also in the Los Angeles area.

The wheels would be a significant amount, as can be teh saddle.

Also  Recorn looks like hes sporting Speedplays vs Times which can be heavier.

    Re: Picture of your Cervelo

Redcorn has 404 clinchers. those are heavier than the Easton by at least 150 grams. also, my saddle is about 250 grams. i do have ZG brakes, Record all around and speedplay pedals. i will check my scale.but, i do not think i wil be able to get my bike down to 14.7 lbs.

Redcorn, do you have an all Ti cassette?

You guys could also be measuring different things.

A lot of people weigh their bikes  w/o pedals, bottle cages, computer mounts etc.

And of course some weigh with all of the above, which is what I'm guessing you did based on your 15.9lb weight.

First.. your ride is the bomb. I prefer Dura Ace, but the ride looks good. Can I ask what size your frame is? 58?

I just switched from Dura Ace to Campy. They are both good but the Dura Ace does shift smoother and is easier to set up. Campy is very precise and shifts a little bit more definite. Its like comparing a Lexus transmission to a BMW transmission. Both are good just different. Campy is lighter and looks better plus I was getting sick of the bug antannae look. If you go to the second page of this post you will see my bike with Dura Ace. My frame size is 51.

It could be from the frame size. I have a 51 size frame which weighed 911 gms without seat post clamp and head set. Saddles make a huge difference that Specialized one is 155gm and I have no saddle bag. Also my handle bars are 190gms Easton EC90 Equippe.

I like your wheels they were not avaliable when I was going to order them. The Zipp 404 clinchers are heavy at 1610 gms but I like the clinchers due to the bad road conditions here in Las Vegas. We have tons of road debris and rocks that are like razor blades everywhere so tubies are risky. I am saving up for some Campy Bora Ultras or Mavic Carbone Ultimates which would put my bike at 14lb even or below. I would only ride these wheels on special occasions.

Also getting the new Zipp Vuma Quad Cranks soon which would weigh 570 gms

I am going to loose another 34 gms using these two products.

    http://fairwheelbikes.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6&products_id=424

I should be sub 14lbs soon and maybe in the 13.5 lb range.

Cervelo Owner Unclear on the Concept

Posted here are four pictures of my '06 Soloist Team in four different modes that I subjected it to this year.  It was all in fun and I think my bike has forgiven me for rarely riding it with the same set-up twice in a row.

Club mode;  most common set-up for Sport X club rides, Calabogie Road Race and Rideau Lakes Tour (with 2 water bottles...see what I mean  about riding it the same twice in a row?)

Touring mode;  New Hampshire, Vermont, New York biking, hiking, eating, drinking, camping supported tour.
I do not recommend short handlebar stems or upright posture, like I did, on Soloists---unstable on drunken moonlight rides around campground.

Time Trial mode;  flipping the seat post definitely works as far as seat height goes. Next TT, I'm going to tilt aero bars upward a bit...oops, I did it again!

Track mode; must pass technical inspection at the track, maximum crank arm length is 165 mm with low profile pedals.  Challenges also because of the vertical dropouts.  Low budget for experimenting meant that I used a 42T chainring with a 15T cog.  Better to rent a real track bike from the velodrome (good bikes and cheap) for the first time experience. And what an experience!  Thank You to Greg of Sport X for technical assistance and shop space and Forest City Velodrome for the exciting ride and excellent training.

Nope just the 11-25 Ti/steel cassette that weighs 200 gms with the lockring. But I just put the new aluminum lock ring on and saved 15gms, I also have the USE spin stix that weigh 75 gms for the pair. Ti Speed play pedals and soon to have the aluminum pedal inserts for those. Every little gram counts. None of the stuff I have on my bike is stupid light they are all strong and durable.
