    Soloist seatpost nut failure

As most of you know, the Soloist seatpost can be changed to either a road or tt/tri position. The seat rails are clamped in place by a bolt and a bolt with a flanged nut.

While adjusting my saddle last night, the nut failed (both flanges were sheared off when I was tightening it.) And while I found a replacement seatpost head online:

    http://www.excelsports.com/main.asp?page=8&description=Seatpost+Head&vendorCode=CERVELO&major=1&minor=19

It aggrieves me to have to pay 20 bucks for a ~15 cent nut.

Anyone know of a Cervelo small parts source? I find it astounding that a 15 cent nut can render a $2000+ bike un-ridable...

     Cheers from Victoria BC, Canada

Give nytro a call. They had a rear brake internal cable stop for my s1 frame. http://www.nytro.com/

Another option is to check out a specialty machine or parts shop that may have similar bolts for a few cents.

I was able to source the bolt at Home Depot of all places - - it doesn't use any unique thread pitch so I just matched it and was back in business.  Actually I went with a hex-head bolt and was able to tighten it through my saddle cutout (at the time, different saddle now) FAR easier than the standard bolt.

     Hope this helps.

    Re: Soloist seatpost nut failure

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions. I bit the bullet and ordered 2 seat post heads from ExcelSports. I figured in 3 years time (~when the next nut fails) this part will be impossible to find without a hack so I figured I'd stock up a little.

    Cheers
