all the money in the world...

I just wanted to try something fun. If money was not an issue, what stock bike (cervelo or not) would you buy. Or, what custom bike would you build?

Probably a custom built and painted Pegoretti. Fly to Italy for a fitting. Super Record. Contemporary but retro style wheelset.

    I like the Pegoretti idea!

For me, it would not just be unlimited funds, but I would want to not get crap from others for riding such an expensive bike!! I saw a Pinarello Dogma at a show this summer - probably the most beautiful bike I have seen. I was possibly swayed a bit by the Pinarello name, but the paint was amazing!

Performance wise, I would love a Crumpton. Very light, all carbon, and custom geometry!

This is fun ........ R3 (with a decent paint job), Super Record, Zip 202's (maybe something else), Power Tap, Campy bottle cages, 3T Rotundo LTD Carbon Handlebar/stem, Speedplay Zero Titanium and a VW Syncro Vanagon camper bus w/ Subaru conversion to haul it around in.

Ahhhh, finally something interesting to waste time on (man it's getting boring around here lately).

http://www.parleecycles.com/model_Z1.html - custom Parlee Z1 with Campagnolo Super Record 11 & Lightweight wheels, and whatever other ridiculously expensive crap I could find to put on like SRM power meter, overpriced water cages, etc.

Then I'd get a bling bike like the Pinarello Dogma natiedean24 mentioned and hire a design expert to consult on what parts looked the best on it (because it is all about the look). That design expert would also be in charge of finding me suitable attire that did not clash with the bike as well - can't have that.

Plus a P4 pimped out (everything black and most expensive).

Then I would hire a nutritionist and personal trainer that would be responsible for ensuring that I don't embarrass myself riding such thoroughbreds. I wouldn't want to be one of those guys.

I'd probably book some time in the wind tunnel too, just to make sure my form is good. Plus I would definately get on the junk. Not for competition reasons, just to blow away the club riders and make them feel bad (because I could no longer socialize with them anymore, due to my elevated status).

A Vanilla custom handbuilt road bike by Sacha White, with integrated seat mast and s-shaped seat stays... Except I don't want to wait 5 years for the thing. Maybe I'll get a signal cycle (also from Portland) while waiting for my Vanilla.

You're missing the point, and thinking like a mortal working stiff. (Smiley/winky face). If money is really no object, perhaps you can "buy" your way to the top of the production list and have your Vanilla before Christmas. In fact, you might as well throw in a custom Vanilla tandem, for when you want to bring someone special along for the ride.

I'd get an S3, flip the handlebars up, get a fatty saddle, put some hockey cards in the spokes and get a newspaper route...I wouldn't even collect-I'd pay for your newspaper.

Re: all the money in the world...

Money no option I would have 100 different bikes, starting with one each of cervelo's lineup.

Here is my short list, I will leave cervelo's, pinnarellos and such off the list

Carbon, calfee- craig knows carbon what else can i say

    Track, Don walker, and Yamaguchi

    Tandem- bilenky-retro cool

    Vintage road- tom kellog

    artistic bike- Naked

Dario pegoretti- because its dario, and he is ill as i understand

Richard sachs- for cyclo cross, because he is retiring more or less

Lugs-bohemian, very artistic lugs, and llewellyn, llewellyn is one of the best builders out there

    Ti- kish, erickson, I.F.

J.P. Weigle, everyone wants one of his frames and he does not even have a website

Lymphoma, but doing well, and still making frames with his hands, as I understand it. Still, without getting morbid, it's obvious that there are way more builds in his past than in his future. I'd probably go with a custom Marcello, and I would ASK Mario ('cause I don't think you TELL him) to paint it himself in some base color of his choosing, then roll paint of one color on one palm, and another color on the other palm, and just handle the bike a bit, leaving colored palm prints on the frame. Then of course a dated signature. A bit goofy I suppose, but my dream scenario.

Pinarello Dogma, Which I would get custom painted in some ridiculously euro colour scheme.  Then if money was no object I would get an Italian-esque tan perminantly tattoo'd, get some Pelozotti-esque hair transplanted, and start dressing like an Italian Cycling superstar.

The only contradiction?  I'd probably put a Red Group and Lightweight wheels on my Dogma rather than Super Record....maybe.

My first instince was to answer Pinerello Dogma; then I really think about how much I love my RS; so I would probably get another RS with Dura-Ace everything (including wheelset), carbon seat, Selle Turbomatic Gel Flow Saddle...many of you have close to that now.  I would take the money I saved and ride.
