    Fitting Cane Creek headset

     Hello guys,

I've started to fit my ISLT headset to my £T forks for my 2009 R3 and i was really shocked to find the crown race can be slid all the way to bottom of the steerer with almost no resistance, when at the base of the steerer there is slight play between the crown race and the steerer.

Is this normal, its not how i've found crown race instalation to be in the past but then this is the first full carbon fork i've done?

     Thanks for any advice,

    Gavin

Are you sure the part you are referring to is the crown race and not one of the headset bearings? The crown race itself is normally pre-installed on the 3T fork and fits very tightly (as you imply that it should). The bearings will slide over the steerer easily and will have play until the whole assembly is properly adjusted.

If it is the crown race then you do have a problem and you should go back to your dealer.

    thank for your reply Marco.

unfortunately it is definately the crown race i'm reffering to. I'll get it touch with the dealer, its pretty dissapointing if they/cervelo (?) can't supply the correct parts.

    thanks again,
