Nice paintjob. Now the question comes, how long ago did you get it painted and was it influenced by the 2010 P3C paintjob or vicea versea?

It's my teamates bike. We had it painted last March. The middle panel was supposed to be black but he opted for all white scheme 1.

Turns out Cervelos 2010 scheme came close to our scheme.

Way to go, Campled! It's nice to see an original paintjob!

OOoh, Nice paint job!  I definitely prefer scheme 1.  I Like the subtleness of the striping.

CZ, why no disc? It looks kind of unfinished without one, and of course it's going to be faster with one too.

Wow, nice build but a 130mm stem?

I would be interested to know why you did not try a size larger frame to give you the top tube length without losing some handling.

    It's actually a funny story.

I used to have a Bianchi Giro and while I was in Berkley in April for a crit, it was stolen out of our team trailer.  Luckily, I was able to make a claim through my parents home owners insurance and get money for it

Long story short, the shop that sponsored us had this frame on the wall for a couple years and he gave me a really good deal on it.  Apparently some triathlete special ordered it a couple years back and then changed her mind.  So they were stuck with this 2006 48cm Cervelo R3 which they just put on display. So I was able to get a really good deal!

The other reason why I would use a large stem and small frame is that it makes the bike a little lighter and I can get a more aggressive position.  If you look at other riders like Thor Hushovd's bike he runs a 140mm 3T stem!  Also, Alessandro Petacchi has a pretty long one too.

Allot of the pros are running smaller frames and longer stems nowadays.  I went from a 56cm on my Trek to a 54cm SLC, and went with a 20mm longer stem myself.  I've not yet built it up, by according to all my calculations it should be about the same.  It will however be a bit lighter and stiffer.

Plus, you can say you have the longest stem and be lighter and stiffer. Chicks dig that.

    Sorry, couldn't resist;-)

    Re: Picture of your Cervelo

Actually I looked on the Test Team site, and all the riders in my size were using a 54cm with a longer stem so it seemed like the right thing to do.  I like that Cervelo does that.  It takes the guess work out of bike fit.  Sure everyone's body is different, but it is a good place to start.

    Re: Picture of your Cervelo

SLC, Might it not also be that at the time the photos were taken the correct size frames for those riders were not available?

Pros bikes are not the best example of what is optimum, often being what was best avaailable at the time.

Alessandro, nice pictures and a great story. Looks like you are probably a sprinter too, so the change in sharpness of handling is desirable for you unlike many recreational and non CAT 1 & 2 riders.

    Thanks for sharing.
