  • Re: Dura Ace c24 wheels - tubeless or not?

Is it possible to go with a standard clincher tire on the tubeless rims and run with stan's no tubes sealant? I've done this on my MTB and works really well but not sure how this setup would work with the higher pressures on road.

  • Re: S5 VWD next bike??

Hi, I spent a good two months agonising between the S5 VWD and R5 VWD last year. I do enjoy hitting the hills and was concerned that the S5 would be the wrong choice, but plotting my ride history I was surprised to see that actually only 13% of my ride time was on gradients >4% so ended up plumping for the S5. I have absolutely no regrets, ...

  • Re: Can you recommend a bike box?

Sedluk / Alex, good suggestions, I'll look into them.  Thanks. Flying out of the uk with companies like easyjet isn't so bad, just need to pay a small supplement for 'sporting equipment' however the bag and contents can't weigh more than 32kg.

  • Can you recommend a bike box?

As the title suggests really. I'm planning on doing a fair bit of travel with my 51cm S5 later this year and need to get a travel box.  Looking for something compact, but obviously needs to do its job protecting the bike thru baggage handling etc Any recommendations? Chris.

  • Re: S5 Clearance + Stones = Cry!

Glad people are finding the thread useful, if nothing more to highlight potential and take some preventative measures. My LBS says nothing to worry about, only cosmetic.  Managed to clean up some of the scratches with polish and now covered in tape you just can't see um now even if you go looking.  Much happier. The plastic ...

  • Re: S5 Clearance + Stones = Cry!

Phil, tires are a good point, I'm running Pro 4's at 23mm so nothing to worry about there. Bought a large sheet of protective film yesterday. Might as well wrap the whole bloomin bike up in it while I'm at it!

  • Re: S5 Clearance + Stones = Cry!

Good to hear its probably nothing to worry about structurally. At the end of the day I bought it to ride and scratches are a fact of life, luckily they are out of sight unless you go looking for them. Protective film is a good idea, might apply some on the down tube where there's a bit more room for stones to go but I don't think ...

  • S5 Clearance + Stones = Cry!

Hi, I'm absolutely lovin my S5 VWD, but I'm having lots of problems with stones getting trapped between the wheels and frame. It doesn't help when the local councils are resurfacing the roads with tar & stone chip. I have lots of deep scratches under the fork crown, back of seat tube and even on the down tube and it makes a ...
