• Re: Garmin Cervelo riders makes me doubt S5

While I don't agree with DR, he does have some valid points. Firstly, whatever bike gets you out and riding is a good bike. Secondly, and I know this is a controversial point with some forum members, I personally do not think there is a superior bike in the professional peloton. The North American cycling scene is a consumer market largely ...
Like I said, heavy and overpriced. Yes, I know about bicycle frame design and Cervelo actually leads the industry. It might be a bitter pill for you to swallow but Colnago was a leader, now a follower. And yes, that is how Cervelo Used to design frames a few years ago, things change my friend.
Not a bitter ...
Please re-read my post. I never said industrial engineer, I said industrial designer (who typically have NO engineering background). READ AND UNDERSTAND THE COMMENT BEFORE YOU POST A RIDICULOUS REPLY BASED ON WHAT WAS NOT SAID. Secondly, go back and read the history of the R5ca. Cervelo engineers actually ...
"Why would you want a bike (Merckx / Colnago) designed by an industrial designer when you could have a bike (Cervelo) designed by real engineers?" I have not ridden Merckx, but have ridden Colnagos and other than them being overweight and overpriced, they are just ok.
Why would I want a bike ...

  • Re: Garmin Cervelo riders makes me doubt S5

From Dr Cotes, MIT researcher and Bicycling magazine article: "We've learned that your bike accounts for only 15 to 25 percent of your overall drag; 75 percent of how fast you go is determined by how your body gets in the way of the air. But there's a push and pull between aerodynamics and power-output efficiency. We look at the ...
it shows that it doesn't matter what bike the pros ride, what matters is that when you test ride the bike, it feels "good" under your feet .. the bike matters, but so much more is the engine that powers it. If you "believe" the data that comes from Cervelo whether aero or otherwise, just buy ...

  • Re: Should I get an S5?

@ ricks - just a further followup on your post, and not to derail the OP (sorry to all who may be offended), I found this when reading about the Cervelo R3 Mud: "According to UCI rules, pro teams must race a production bike in sanctioned events. Or, at least, the same bike has to be available to consumers. "
