I'm surprised that it isn't something that helmet manufacturer's would think of.
I would like a good solution too, but I can see why helmet manufacturers would steer clear. If they encouraged people to attached hard objects to their helmets, then who knows what would happen during an impact. Would the helmet break in an uncontrolled fashion and cause more injury? Their lawyers already instruct consumers not to even put stickers on the helmets! :)

I recently went looking for a rear light for the S5.  I went with an Exposure Tracer, a really bright light.  I used this stuff called "Sculpey Premo" which is like a polymer clay that you bake and it ends up as a plastic.  I basically made a blob of the stuff and squished it between the light and the post to mold it and make a nice fit between the two.  Here's how it turned out.

Awesome work there! Very good solution... I've ended up ditching the seatpost mount as I'm now just using a NiteFlux light attached to my helmet. This thing is the brightest thing I've ever seen, and I know get über respect from cars behind. http://www.niteflux.com/buy/red-zone-8/ Exxy, but besides a crappy back up light, it's the only tail light I run now... http://youtu.be/cbuPjVSiKQ0

I recently bought a Louis Garneau Quartz II helmet. It has a velcro-on blinky red LED light on the back of the dial adjuster for helmet fit. It works in a couple of blinky modes as well as always on or off. It's nice and bright, and it moves with your head so it really catches attention.

Awesome! Thanks for the tip. I was looking for something just like this to create little fix-it gadgets. I just ordered some.

Hey no problem Bye Sickle. It's really cool stuff, like a poor man's 3d printer. It gets lighter when you bake it and feels pretty stout when it's cured.

I have a fizik saddle and a fizik light clipped on it. It looks pretty nice because the saddle has a dedicated slot for the fizik light. The only problem is that even though the light seams to stays in place, most of the times you will lose it. What I did was, I used zip tie to hold it in place from behind. Problem solved.

Just saw this. Looks like it might do the trick for you guys. I've used plain Sugru before for various fixes, and this improves the usefulness.

    Re: S5 tail light solution

Bumping this thread to post a new option from Specialized. I think these should be available this month in the US. It says it fits the Venge seatpost so maybe it will work on the S series bikes. 100 lumens is pretty good for daytime visibility as well. I'm also sort of interested in the headlight if it has a decent beam cutoff. http://www.specialized.com/us/en/ftb/lights/lights-ftb/flux-expert-taillight

There is also this option from Cateye: http://www.cateye.com/en/products/detail/TL-LD700-R/ I don't own one (yet), but its on my Amazon.com wish/ reminder list of things I want or need.

Thought these ones not gonna make the cut but it did (performance/fitment/cost). Works fine with the included strap. Axiom Ultra Spark LED Tail Light. http://www.performancebike.com/bikes/Product_10052_10551_1152748_-1_400159__400159

Cygolite Hotshot Micro would work as well. Sells at REI and maybe Performance. The Hotshot Micro is the newer model just out this fall. http://www.cygolite.com/products/hotshotmicro2w.html
