    Re: Cervélo 2015

Cervelo seems to have been releasing things as they go for the past couple years. i.e. the P3 was released in April 2013, the S3 in late Aug 2013 (Eurobike), R5/R3 in Aug of 2013 (I think), and the P2 (which is a P3 with a different fork/component group) in Jan 2014. They seem to change up the colors of existing models at Eurobike (late Aug 2014), and if I had to bet I would say they will release an updated S5 there as well. I will warn you now. This fortune telling exercise is worth exactly what you paid for it. I have no inside knowledge at all.

Looks like I was wrong...looks like they are about to launch a R2 http://www.cervelo.com/en/bikes/r-series/r2.html saw the ad in the new Bicycling magazine that came in today.

Nice find! I guess it's the same frame, but a different fork and groupset.

I also don't think there is a need for R2 unless something in the frame is significantly different from the R3 (eg curved seat stays like the RS used to have). Perhaps the "pressure" to launch new model evey year starts to take its toll, who knows. Having the same frame as the R3 with lower end group-set (the new 105) and within "about" same price range as the R3 will just canibalize the brand. I wonder what the new S3 has done to the sales volume of the new S2 (which I have yet to see in person on various ride group rides and in online photos). Just a thought.

I have never seen the new s2 in public but if they blow it would dirt cheap I would trade my 2011 s3 for one in a heartbeat love that paint job.... not seeing a point to a r2 kinda odd for sure

Apparently they were not ready for that info to get out in the wild. The page leads to a 404 error now.

Makes sense to me. Slight frame difference, different group set, and a much lower price (it looked like over $1000 difference, so not in the same ball park at all). This brings this brand into reach for more people, and aligns the offerings across R/S/P.

$2500, I think this brings a new price point to Cervelos, especially the R series.

While the page was up I saw 2500 but didn't have any currency, but sounds about right. I guess this completes the line-up and makes sense with 11-speed 105 release.
