25mm continental 4000s II tires good or bad?

This is a question for those of you that are riding these. How do you like them?? Thinking of putting them on one of my bikes and would like to hear from you. Please don't sent links. I can find them online, I rather hear from you guys that are riding them. Good rolling resistance? Smooth? Worth it? Probably going on Zipp's 404's and on a 2012 Cervelo S5 or Ridley Noah Pro. Thanks in advance.

...these will not fit on your S5 (per the many threads that have discussed 25c tires on S5 frames...Continental 25C tires are some of the tallest and widest 25c tires made). EM3

Sounds like your question has been answered befor you even get started. I will add that my GP4000s II 25mm on Dura Ace 9000 C24s they are spot on 25mm wide. For the general club run type riding I do they are a great performer. Fortunately I have a 2014 R5 so the 25mm fit fine. Andrew

I have conti 4000s II with 23 front 25 rear on my S3, it rolls very fast, comfortable, better handling than my previous Mavic Yksion tires. I'd highly recommend it.

I just installed a set of 4000 S II tires and did a 3 day tour. my previous 2 sets were the 4000 S. The S IIs are the smoothest rolling tires I have ever mounted on my bike. They are tough as well. I hit a really bad pot hole and they and my wheel came out virtually unscathed. I absolutely love these tires and think they are actually much better than the 4000S.

Thanks for the info peislc. I was considering getting the IIs but got the old version as they were half the price. I'll definitely get the II next time.

... this might be a case of placebo effect, because apparently they are the exact same tyre as the previous version, just with added colour options.

I could say placebo on the first ride but I have been riding these for a few hundred km and I still feel they are smoother than the 2 sets of 4000 S I rode to the point they needed to be replaced, though the 400SII I bought was plain ole black. I have thousands of km on Conti 4000S and they are great, these seem a bit nicer but then again it could be the placebo effect but it makes me happy.

Maybe quigley and peislc are both correct. "More specifically, Conti tells us that the price, tread pattern, advanced Black Chili compound, Vectran puncture layer, and 3/330tpi casing have not changed. To be clear, I do believe that the tire has changed somewhat over time, as evidenced by some of the roller data from people like Slowtwitch contributor, Tom Anhalt. It seems that the newer versions of the tire have lower rolling resistance than the first year or two of production. yes we all could be generally right, though I did not keep the boxes, it said something of the sort improved for multiple items. However, the truth is I really enjoy the ride, and as far as I am concerned not much else counts. Yesterday on a group ride a buddy riding Michelin Pro race hit a small pot hole and double flatted, the weekend before I hit a much larger hole a lot harder as attested to by one of the group and no flats no rim damage nothing. So regardless, that is no placebo, the tires make me happy and keep on rolling. I am a true, blue conti fan.
