    new bike, R3 or TCR

I realize I'm asking this question here on the Cervelo forum and might get a biased perspective. But I'm eager for a new bike soon and thinking most seriously about a 2015 R3 with ultegra + wheel upgrade or the 2016 Giant TCR Advanced Pro 0 that comes with Dura Ace and Giant carbon wheels. I was able to test ride both bikes - and with the same wheelset, I can't say I was able to appreciate any real differences after a 3-4 mile test ride. Both bikes felt light and fast. The R3 is marked down pretty considerably and with the wheelset upgrade (to include the same Giant wheelset as the TCR), it would be about $1k cheaper than the Giant. Curious if anyone has perspective here about one vs the other. The Cervelo is appealing for it's price and have some aero qualities in a non-aero frame. Giant is kind of appealing just because it's a newer frameset with the Dura Ace. They're both huge upgrades from my current ride (Cannondale CAAD 7). I'm also looking at a Cannondale High Mod EVO but having a harder time finding it locally. Thanks for the input!

You're right, we are biased towards the Cervelo. But Cervelo's awesome reputation, the lifetime warranty and a grand in your pocket are going to be very persuasive.

I agree!!! On the other side... The R3 will have a better resale value. I have an older TCR and can't get much for it at all.

Owning an R3 I am biased but alongside a lifetime warranty I have to say this forum has a core group of the most knowledgeable group of bike owners you will find on the net. You will never be short of amazing answers and knowledge of what to do at many levels in real time.

Obviously you're going to find a lot of love for the R3 on this forum and with good reason. In all fairness to Giant since Cervelo warranty was mentioned, I looked up Giant's- they also cover their frames/forks for the time it's owned by the original owner as well as paint and original components for the first year- not too bad actually. Throwing this at you as well, a friend of mine whose ridden and owned most of the top high end bikes out there did proclaim that the new TCR was one of the best all around bikes he's ever ridden. In person it does look great but I still love my R3!
