    2017 R Series Changes

Anyone hear anything yet on changes (if any) for the R series bikes for the 2017 MY?

You will hear about them when they are ready to be released.

You must be really fun at parties.  Considering there were S3d and new P5 Red eTap links on here before they were "officially" announced, it's a fair question.

Expect to have Disc brakes across the board.

My bets. New R5 will have the same geometry as new S5. As in lower stack. A "real race" geometry. Avoids the minus 17 stem stuff. Disc to be an option on all bikes so depending on uci rules they could go either way. Perhaps 2 fork options? This basically makes R5 / S5 real race bikes for real racers (flexibly essential) R3 / S3 race bikes for regular racers R2 / S2 entry into cervelo goodness (2 and 3 series geometry unchanged) C,P etc as is. Colours likely in the whites. Again boring. One day they will make a really nice coloured option. See older generation of de rosa protos or current sk range for inspiration. Guys colour matters! Waiting....

You think everything has been "officially" announced?

Not all companies will announce products before they are ready. There is competition.

You don't know me. It's unfair (and ignorant) to think of me as not fun at parties.

I made a simple response, you assume I don't know anything. Good luck.

I think that if you answer a question like a wanker you can expect to be called a wanker.

My answer was "You will hear about them when they are ready to be released".

What is it that you guys don't understand? Companies do not release info before they are ready.

Too much for you grasp I guess.

In addition to my comments on the S3d and P5 eTap, Just head over to the 2017 P5 thread to see a great example of what OP was asking about.  Cervelo has released nothing but teaser glamour shots and a date ("Oct 4"), however others have posted external pictures/details that allow us to see that it's likely a beam bike with disc brakes about to be announced.  These are major redevelopments that you can't see from the "official" Cervelo sources.  Since such details are available on this site, it's totally reasonable for faroodi to ask such a question about the R5, too.  Your response provided no value and was unnecessarily rude, so I called you out on it.  Fortunately other posters like gonenuts have more useful things to say than you do.

Speculation threads fair better on other forums. Unsanctioned media tends to get deleted here.

    Re: 2017 R Series Changes

Cervelo is just holding back to watch the growing speculation on this site. Corporate just likes to have fun.
2015 R2 fun (climbing and all around) bike, upgraded some to become just a hair lighter in 2016 (it was an orphan leftover at the LBS). Glad I picked it up.
Step 1: Lighter wheels... done! 1342g, down from 2000g
Step 2: Fabric Line 142mm saddle w/titanium rails
    Step 3: Ultegra R8000 Groupset
