2017 S3 Change to Rotor Q Chain Rings

My new Cervelo S3 arrives in the next few days, my only concern is that it does not have a compact front chain set! I live in a relatively lumpy part of the UK and would like to change the front rings from a 52/36 to an equivalent in Q Rings of say a compact 50/34. The S3 will come with a Rotor 3D30 Bright chain set and fitted with Di2 6870. Can anyone offer advice on whether or not elliptical Q-Rings 50/34 (equivalent) will fit straight onto the Rotor 3D30 Bright please? If they do are there any additional parts/tools that I will require? Cheers......

Unless you really want Q Rings I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with a 52/36. I have an R3 with 52/36 and a BMC with 50/34 and the 52/36 works best I think. Pretty lumpy where I live too I don't think you'll find it too much of a struggle.

The 52/36 chainring set indicates the Rotor 3D30 crankset for the S3 comes in the BCD 110mm version that will fit compact 50/34 for both, Q ore noQ ..

Wonderful, many thanks for our message. Really helpful, maybe I will give it a go for a while before considering changing the set up!

Had the 52/36 and the 50/34 Q rings, no issues. Currently ride the 52/36 qxl, even greater ovalization. Love them and won't go back to round or q rings. I so believe you feel the difference when you ride them, particularly when increasing speed. I would say try them, can always go back to round. I also have a set of ridea 50/34 with 15 percent ovalization and like them better for long climbs and when things pitch up to 12%+.

Many thanks wwwc9! Just looked at the Rotor site and they describe the Qxl Rings as being suitable for riders with quick twitch muscles (e.g. sprinting, powerful riders) and Q Rings for those with slow twitch (e.g. long steady efforts).. Do you fit into the fast twitch category or do you think there is a cross over with the Qxl being suitable for both/all types of rider? Cheers.....
