    R2 Love...

It was a great buy, and glad I found this leftover bike at my LBS last year. The way lighter aero carbon wheels on my R2 has made it my favorite bike. I even recently used it for the "fairly flat" Maine Lighthouse Century on September 9th and it made that 105.5 ride an easy fun jaunt. Perfect weather helped. I'm still looking to replace the 105/FSA group set and have been eyeing Shimano's Ultegra 8000. My question: does Shimano now have a crank that fits our BBright like FSA and Rotor does? Having the option for an 11/30 cassette with the regular cage is something I'd like to try on our steeper local Maine hills, plus Ultegra's slightly lighter weight advantage over the mix of 105/FSA components currently on the bike.

I had just put a that 11-30 cassette with the original 105 and it works pretty nice going up steeper hills.

Thanks for the info. I want to incorporate that 30t gear with the Ultegra R8000 mec for climbing. Really want to know if the new Ultegra R8000 groupset BB fits our rather unique BBright.

You can put just about any crankset on with the right BB or adaptor: http://wheelsmfg.com/bbright-adapter-for-shimano-cranks.htm

The new R3 comes with new Ultegra crankset so there must be a way to do it.

Thanks again. Looked at the adaptor and saw the new R3 with Ultegra on the Cervelo site. Shimano not taking email due to volume. Must be a lot of us asking the same question. Hopefully no adaptor involved. Encouraged, and will see if my LBS has a definitive answer if Shimano is actually making a BB for BBright.

    Re: R2 Love...

Depends on how you define "adapter". Shimano spindles are 24mm, and BBRight is a 30mm standard, so the bearings chosen need to drop the id down to accept a Shimano crank. In the case of the new R series, Cervelo has chosen to use these with Shimano cranks; https://bbbcycling.com/en/bike-parts/bottom-brackets/BBO-72 There's really no downside to this vs just having a set of bearings pressed in. My BBInfinite bottom bracket is similar in design and is native BBRight, it just doesn't have the external threaded cups. But it's also much harder to take out compared to this lol...
