    Creaking seatpost on 2016 S3

I seem to have developed an annoying creak on my seat post on my 2016 S3. Creaks when I'm in the saddle, no noise when I'm out. I tightened the seat post clamp thingy to 8N.m and the creak went away, but about 3 weeks later its starting to come back again. Anyone encountered this problem before and if so, can they recommend a solution? Its annoying the sh!t out of me!!!!

maustin, I can only tell what worked for me on my S3 when I had continuing creaking problems. I took the seat post out, I disassembled the clamp and throughly cleaned it the seat post and the area where the seat post inserts into. Then used carbon past on the post and insertion area "except the area where the clamp contacts". No more creak's. In my case carbon paste generously used in an attempt to stop the creaking had gotten into and around the clam and that was the source of my creaking. Not sure if that's your issue but it was mine. Hope this works for you.

Hi maustin, Rider2 makes some good suggestions and I would definitely start by cleaning the post and inside the frame and reapplying carbon paste. Secondly, you can try adding a little bit of loctite to the clamp bolt threads to ensure the clamp does not loosen, you mentioned you tightened to 8Nm and it went away so perhaps it loosened? Unless it was not tightened to 8Nm originally. Also, check your saddle and that the saddle clamp is tightened to 12Nm. Lastly, if your Seatpost is not cut to size it is possible the creaking is coming from inside your frame. Check that the inserted section of your post is between 65mm (minimum) and 85mm (Maximum). If it's longer the post may be creating noise from very slight rocking movement when you're seated. Hope that helps,

Have you the saddle clamp? Maybe it's just some dirt around the rails.
