Using iPhone as bike GPS computer with MotionX app

Take a look at this app for the iPhone:http://gps.motionx.com/overview/ . I use a RAM mount to secure it to my Cervelo http://gps.motionx.com/accessories/.

They're adding features once in a while. When Apple release the new 3.0 update later, it maybe possible to add on Heart Rate and Cadence via an add on dock on the bike.

The battery on the iPhone is not the greatest especially in the cold weather, but I've been getting about 3 to 4 hours.

The best $2.99 I spent on iTune.

i would think that you wouldn't want to get the iphone wet or whatever. just get a cheap computer w/ heart and cadence. you really only need distance, time, speed and odo. heart is good to have too. bike computers are made to take a beating the iphone is not i'm guessing.

Can you upload routes from your PC onto the iPhone? Can you plan routes on the iphone and then have the iphone direct you?

Not yet, but the developers wants to be able to do that.

I tried MapMyRide, but it didn't work for me for some reason. What this wireless device for Heart and Cadence? Got a link?
