The New S5 Dura Ace Di2 is claimed with 6.4kg & Dura Ace mec. is 6.8kg n.a. at this Roadbike.de article. Here is a nice Cervélo Spring 2015 Catalogue Europe with geometry tables and apparel in en_US for pdf download inside an ilovecycling.de new S5 article .. oSo >>

A nice quote from a Cervélo representative at road.cc: "The only way they could make it faster now would be to add fins!"

Oops, you are right ftakeda, the weight of the S5 DA mec. is not announced in that article, it is just the Di2 and the price of the S5 DA mec. is 6.8 k€ .. oSo >>

Dura ace Di2 is lighter than mechanical IF you use the SM-BTR2 internal battery.

I'd like to see frame comparisons between 2012,13,& 15 S5's ..like a frame overlay. Hey, CERVELO - Can I special order a Matt black with gloss blue rather than gloss black?

They're quite different. Just look at the downtube, for one. Truncated airfoil for the whole trailing edge, like the S3/S2. Top tube is straight from the R5CA. Tapered headtube.

...so after all is said and done, I'd be wasting my time getting the new Cervelo aero bars and internal Di2 battery to have my 2012 outperform the 2015...? Aren't the Cosmics or HEDs weight making it 'less aero' ?

How would the weight make something "Less Aero"?

Generally speaking they are two ideologies in terms of how to make a bike faster. Traditionally, a bike that is lighter means it'll require less watts to ride that bike in a given condition compared to a heavier bike (given equal road/weather/external factors). "Aero", as you can imagine, is short for aerodynamic. The concept is to design a bike/component to minimize air resistance. At higher speeds, air resistance will slow a rider down significantly, which is why you see pro racers get off their saddle and rest on the top tube for a more aero position when descending at high speeds. Weight doesn't affect wind drag/air resistance. Your question is more of a "weight vs. aero" question, since you are essentially asking which is faster. This is a far more complicated debate/question. But hopefully, this helps a little bit. Here is a link from Cervelo on the subject: http://www.cervelo.com/en/engineering/thinking-and-processes/weight-vs-aero.html (All the gurus, please correct any of this info)

I think i "need" an upgrade so I called an authorized Cervelo dealer today (in So Cal) to find out about pre orders and I was disappointed to find that I knew a heck of alot more than the guy on the phone!!! He knew I was asking about 2015 S5s, so he went to ask his manager and came back giving me info that was on the Cervelo website. I quickly figured out he was giving me info on the 2014. Then I figured out he was rather clueless and I started telling him about the differences between the 2014s and 2015s. I then told him I would call back in late October for more details. Bummer...

I'm glad I didnt pull the trigger on the 2014 S3. I absolutely love the look of this 2015 S5!!!

Would like to see a chart or get more info comparing frames. If the handlebar saves x number of watts, ruling that out, how does it compare to the old s5. What i'm really loving abouut the new s5 is tapered headtube, accomodates 25c tires, much lower headtube length to get really aero, and matte black paint scheme. Time to start the s5 fund.

I concur! Too bad I'd only get 1/3 the price when (and if) I sell off my 2012. The last two R-series iterations were in my LBS the month they were released, so I know this S5 will be in FRESHBIKES in October.
