    R3 creaking.

Hi, since buying my R3 on 2014. Ive been plagued by some clicking/ticking.

It started when the bike was brand new and I cant get rid of it.

The noise was gone from some time after installing a bbinfinite but it always come back with vengeance.

Here is avideo of the sound. Of course the sound is amplified by the cellphone mic.

     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6IP7iECDYw

Easiest way to do it is to do a super slow motion sprint like in the video. :-)

Does it under any gear. Seated or standing.

Does it without touching the handlebars.

    Switched wheels/skewers, same problem.

Switched pedals, same problem. Tried platforms with everyday shoes,

    Everything is torqued to spec.

BBinfinite module installed since last year

    Tried new bearings.

Im running out of ideas right now.

    Any ideas?

You mentioned two different wheelsets. Are they the same brand? Also, are you using the same skewers for both?

Might be the BB. My Zipps if not prperly lubed can cause creaking. And I've had titanium skewers cause creaking. Or it could be that screws on the drivetrain need grease (assuming it's a BB30 drivetrain and not GXP).

I empathize with you. I swapped and torqued many things over many weeks, including new bearings in my pedals, before I discovered it was my left pedal. Not sure why the bearings didn't solve it. My sanity returned when I replaced them.

Have you tried greasing and torquing your chain ring bolts?

Are you still using the stock OEM Rotor 3D crankset? In my case, that was the culprit. Everyone has told me it was the BB. Ive tried different BB and it would come back. Ive tried different seat posts, wheelsets, and pedals. I swapped out the crankset with the non-OEM Rotor 3D (the version where you have to add a spacer on the DS) and the problem has gone away.

Its the last thing you havent tested so it may be the cause of the clicks. It drove me nuts until someone pointed it out on another forum. Once I swapped it out with another crank from a buddy, the clicking didnt come back. Of course, his cranks from his Cervelo is the version without the modified spider. His required the 11.5mm spacer on the DS.

I believe I will have to go to a Cervelo dealer to get it checked. I dont want to buy a 3d+ crank just to try..

    Re: R3 creaking.

If the cups were out of alignment or the NDS bearing was sticky for some time before you switched to BBInfinite there may be scoring on the axle which could cause noise. Fresh grease on the axle during the BBInfinite install would have minimized the noise for a while.
