Well I can tell you this if they don't have your frame you will get the newest S2 if they have blue and black that is what you will get, if they only have the black and gunmetal that is what you will get.

The only diff in the S3 (with caliper brakes) and you S2 is the front fork.. there is no diff in the win tunnel numbers the drag difference was within the "noise" just a heads up

What I meant is, if they have the pre 2013 s2 (before bbright, and the aero cut out for the rear wheel) could I upgrade to post 2013?

As Rob1519 mentioned to you back in 2014 when you were asking similar question for your S1 warranty claim, "If you want ... ask. Possibly you could pay a little to upgrade your upgrade.".

    https://forums.cervelo.com/forums/p/13725/92463.aspx#92463

Did you have the chance to ask Cervelo directly back then? What did they say?

Seems you've been claiming warranty almost every 3 years. Hope it works out.

I didn't matter to me back then, as much as now so I didn't bother. As for claiming warranties every 3 years, you are correct, though there seems to be an undertone of sarcasm in your comment. Perhaps I should work on being luckier and not have my frames fail.

No sarcasm at all bud. Was actually feeling sorry for you as you have to deal with this every so often. That's what that meant. Don't take it the wrong way. I feeling lucky I do not have to have mine warranted (yet).

Understood. Well, the S1 was my favourite machine of all time.was super sad to see it go. The S2 I got unlucky. Still waiting on the lbs for an opinion. But really a weird failure. Sucks...

Re: Upgrade cost on a warranty replacement

I did an S2 2013 warranty replacement last fall.  They had 2013 S2 frames available but I was given the option to upgrade to the 2016 S3 for $500 CDN and I went for it and am extremely happy, it is a big change and improvement.  Depending on your shop there will be other costs as well because this requires a BBRight bottom bracket which your current frame would not have so be prepared for a few extra costs.  I love the frame, worth every penny.

Did the 2017 s3 frame change at all, other than the disc model?

Re: Upgrade cost on a warranty replacement

To my knowledge their is no upgrade on S3 in 2017. In 2016 they had different painting. The 2017 wit disk is a complete different bike due to the redesign to fit disk breaks. Also price of S3 almost doubled with new disk version due to new Eve wheels. Hope this helps.
