    S5 disc 2019 bike box

Has anyone tried to get their 2019 S5 disc into a bike box yet? How much dismantling is needed?

Re: S5 disc 2019 bike box

I will travel with my S5 Disc in August and I have a Evoc Bike Travel Bag Pro which I've been using the last couple of years. The problem with most boxes is, that you'll have to remove the handlebar and (in case of the Evoc Bike Travel Bag) attach it to top tube and downtube on the non-drive side using the provided tube protector with velcro straps for the handlebar. Siince today's aero bikes have fully internal routed cables this might be quite a hassle. I got my S5 Disc two weeks agoand gave it some thought: Without having tested it yet, I'm pretty sure that unwrapping the handlebar tape on the drive side until the shift-/brake-lever should release just enough brake cable to place the handlebar aside of the bike and attach it to top tube and down tube. Any other ideas for travelling with the 2019 S5 Disc are more than welcome :-)

I used this bag to go to Europe...https://us.sciconbags.com/aerocomfort-road-3-0-tsa-bike-travel-bag

It worked great and you leave the bars alone.

I'm travelling this week with my S5. Could you pull the stem off and then lay stem/handlebars together next to the frame?

I have this bag. https://us.sciconbags.com/aerocomfort-road-3-0-tsa-bike-travel-bag No need to take the handlebars off at all. I used it to go to Europe. in 2016 and am going again in 2 weeks. I highly recommend it.

I think this might actually be the one I have. https://us.sciconbags.com/products/bike-travel-bags-bike-cases/sale/aerocomfort-2-0-tsa I know I did not spend 890.

Re: S5 disc 2019 bike box

Pretty much everyone I know including several with 2019 S5 have upgraded to Aerocomfort 3 (my old bag was an EVOC) for thru-axle compatibility. Quick and easy to pack and reassemble. I use pool noodles for extra frame protection but this is optional. Check out the UK online shops for a good price, around $500 USD.

Here are a few pictures of my Open fully packed, if you have a short cage derailleur you can leave it mounted and pedal removal is optional. Some recommend removing the rotors but I don't know anyone who does this. You can see a black bag under my white helmet bag, this bag comes with the Scicon and is shaped to fit under the frame, I use it for shoes, tools, food...
