How do the Zipp CSC wheels compare with your 404 clinchers? I just rode on 404 clinchers on my R3 for 12 days in the alps and ended up with a cracked rear rim. So I am wondering about a set of aluminum rims ....

    Re: Picture of your Cervelo

I cracked a rear 404 rim once after attempting to adjust its truing without using a proper jig (after a crash). I got it pretty true (or so I thought), then went for a brief ride to test it and on my return, when I inspected it, there was a slight crack at the valve hole. :( Not a pleasant find.

So, yeah - the 404s are certainly fragile to *any* amateur  truing adjustments or harsh bumpy riding, so do be careful people! Also, they aren't designed for people much over 100kg. For that riding weight, get the equivalent wheels in Zipp's heavier-duty 'Clydesdale' version.

I bought the Zipp CSCs while the rear 404 was being replaced. They are outstanding and far more practical for harder rides generally. For climbing and descents, one has far more control over the front end of your bike. I don't climb with aero profiles anymore since getting the Zipp CSCs. The other benefit of having god aluminium rims is their easy maintenance and durability (obviously).

Thanks, the Zipp CSC's sound really good. Just out of curiosity, are they as smooth as the 404's? Do you by any chance know something about HED Bastogne's? They sound similar to the Zipp CSC's.

Hello Marcela, you have build a great bike!

Would you tell me why Oval fork?

I just bought P3C with Cervelo Wold CL fork and somewhat confused - I have read on the Forum that Wolf TT is more aero than Wold CL, but Cervelo uses CL because it is lighter.  It contradicts Cervelo statement that in TT aero more important that weight.

Your comments would be greatly appreciated.
