• Re: New models 2014

How close are "old" aero (like my 2010 S2) and new Aero Road, a la 2014 R5/RCA? Is the full airfoil of the S2 still more efficient than the new road frames?

  • Re: S2 Crankset Compatibility

I have a 2010 S2. I had a 105 crankset on it with an Ultegra BB. I bought a new Ultegra crank and switched it out in about 10 minutes. No messing around with adapters, it fits right in the BB. Just pull off the old one, clean and grease the BB, and put the new one in. Easy peasy. And Ultegra is light, works great, and looks awesome. Edit: I just ...

  • Re: Clicking sound comming from BB each time i pedal

I had the same type of noise on my S2, swore it was the BB. It turned out to be the seatpost as I pedaled, hence the sound only coming while seated. I applied some carbon paste to the seatpost and retorqued the seatpost bolt. Problem solved. It turns out that bikes are a lot like cars in that sound travels through the frame, and can make it ...

I like the Garmin Squad choices, but I'll miss watching Dave Zabriskie.

  • Re: Transportation in the rain

Your frame is carbon, and just about everything else is aluminum, titanium, or stainless. There's very little to rust or corrode from wet use. I keep my bike in the car, but I ride a lot in the rain. I just wipe it down and grease the chain and shifters regularly. no problem.

  • Re: bicycle design for dwarf children

I know this may not work out, but on the TLC program Little People, Big World, the teenaged son had a bike frame custom made for his dimensions. If you google the show and pull the episode guide, you may be able to find the frame builder. edit: I pulled the episode guide, it's season 2, episode 35. You may be able to get the show credits or ...

  • Re: Will I did it :(

Welcome to the "falling on your ass on the sidewalk" club :). that's how I discovered the toe overlap on my S2, right outside the coffee shop and LBS, on the sidewalk, at 1 kph.

  • Re: R5CA rivet popped on front derailleur tab; can LBS fix it without sending to Cervelo?

One of the rivets is loose on my 2010 S2. My shop (a Cervelo dealer) looked at it and and said they could replace the rivet without sending the frame away. If the carbon fiber blows out, I'd say that's a completely different story.

  • Re: Garmin Cervelo riders makes me doubt S5

Although I own an S2 instead of an S5, I like to point out a common situation amongst 40 something year-old married cyclists with kids. I can't afford 2 high end bikes. Therefore I bought my S2 because it is an awesome road bike, and can do double duty with a set of tri bars for TT's and duathlons (not much of a swimmer). So if I was to ...

  • Re: 12-30t cassette on an S2 with 105

Others can chime in here, but i think you'd need a long cage RD for 30 teeth, and probably a couple of extra chain links. I went from 11-25 to 11-28, with an Ultegra compact 50-34 crank, and it's been great on the hills. 2010 S2.
