  • Re: Cervelo's and SRAM eTap

I finally took the plunge and put SRAM etap on my 2012 R5. No issues, but... The problem that has been identified is that the SRAM etap FD has an overhang that hits the top of the braze on mount on the R5 frame. This prevents the FD from being installed in the position SRAM recommends. Specifically, if you look at ...

  • Re: Cervelo's and SRAM eTap

I'm struggling with planning an upgrade for my 2012 R5. It presently has 1st gen SRAM Red with some 2nd gen components. Specifically, I switched to the exo gram chainrings, which although specced as "11 speed" work fine with my 10 speed setup. Also swapped in the xg 1090 11-28 cassette, which is MUCH quieter than the old one. My ...

  • Re: Cervelo frames and wide rims & tires

My 2012 R5 will not accommodate 25 mm Contis on Zipp 101 or 30 Course rims. Contis, however, run wide. The 4000 S II "25" mm actually measures 27.5 mm wide at the widest point and the 23 mm measures 25 mm. The 25 mm tires "fit", but the clearance is very, very close. With the sand and gravel in the roads I ride, it just ...

  • SRAM eTap on 2012 R5 has a problem with front derailleur?

From a comment on Competitive Cyclist. Can anyone confirm/refute this claim or offer a workaround if it is true. I've really been thinking of upgrading my first gen SRAM Red to eTap, but now I don't know... "However, here is the caveat emptor part: the front derailleur mounting position is incompatible with the Cervélo R3 and R5. ...

  • Re: R5 2011 Bottom Bracket Adice, Please

My BB is getting stiff/sticky (2012 R5 with Rotor 3D+ Cranks) and this is what i got from BBinfinite when I inquired to them. They say it'll work. You might give them a call: Charles, It's a confusing subject but you are correct. The Rotor cranks that come with R5's are 30mm. So here's what you'll ...

  • Re: Replace Rotor 3d+ chainrings, or do something else?

Just wanted to say that I put the SRAM X GlideR rings on today and they work great. Thanks so much for the info! And they look great on the bike!

  • Re: Replace Rotor 3d+ chainrings, or do something else?

Thanks for this info! I had no idea a "non-hidden bolt" version of X-glider existed. In fact several sources, who should know better, advised me that the X-glide was not compatible with Rotor.I was about to pull the trigger on Praxis, but I will now investigate the SRAM chainrings. Thanks!

  • Replace Rotor 3d+ chainrings, or do something else?

I have a 2015 R5 that was a replacement frame for a 2010 R3SL that had a frame failure (the notorious bottom bracket cracking). The replacement came with the Rotor crankset and round chainrings. They are now pretty worn and need to replaced. Suggestions? Just replace the rings? Get a different crankset? My understanding is that the R5 frame ...

  • Re: Need wheel advice!

I have a 2012 R5 with Zipp 101 wheels. Well, it used to have Zipp 101 wheels, but 2 days ago the rear hub failed castrophically. A lot like this: http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12930058 The wheels are 5 years old, with 88/188 hubs so way out of the SRAM/Zipp warranty. Nonetheless I called them. Their response, "Take ...

  • Re: Need wheel advice!

Sorry, the posting somehow lost all the paragraph breaks, so is hard to read. I'll post again if I can figure out what caused that. Still appreciate advice!
