  • Re: Chain Ring Suggestions Needed

I'd second the Praxis recommendation. I use them on my R3. I have them attached to a Power2Max power meter spider with your same Rotor 3d+ crank arms, and love them. Way stiffer than the stock Rotor round rings. Shifting is flawless (on di2 in my case).

  • Re: R3SL frame serial number location

Every Cervelo I have ever had has the SN on the ground-facing part of the bottom bracket (i.e. turn the bike upside down to see it). It's there on my R3, but I don't have an R3SL specifically. Sorry to hear about the theft, that is terrible. Good luck with insurance.

  • Re: Thoughts on 3rd gen S5?

I'd guess the best part about the seat-post is it no longer has that silly round clamp with notches that I have in my 2015 S5. I've found it a real pain to adjust the saddle angle while holding onto the 4 clamp parts plus two bolts. (though unlike my P2C I have never had the S5 round seat post head slip and point the saddle nose down ...

  • Re: Cervelo R5 RDH and different ratio Shimano Gearing

You shouldn't have to swap the mechs. You can leave the Ultegra Di2 GS cage derailleur all the time. It has no problem with a 28 cassette for sure, though I don't know how well it handles an 11-25 as I haven't tried it. The Ultegra Di2 GS is supposed to have a capacity of 37 teeth so if you are 50/34 that leaves 37-16 = 21 teeth so it ...

  • Re: Cervelo R5 RDH and different ratio Shimano Gearing

I don't have a perfect answer here (I run Ultegra Di-2 with a GS cage derailleur on my R3). But I do have another idea. You have an amazing bike and setup, and you are definitely going to be pushing the limit with 32 teeth on the cog as the angle of the SS derailleur (and cage length for teeth uptake as you know). That SS derailleur really ...

  • Re: Afternoon ride Tweaking my Cervelo S3

If you started the ride without a gps signal the Garmin will ask if you want to continue searching for satellites or turn off the GPS (its assuming you are inside on a trainer). Maybe you accidentally hit the "OK" button to turn off the gps for the ride so you got a ride with no gps.

  • Re: Afternoon ride Tweaking my Cervelo S3

If you have been using Garmins and this is the first time in 4.5 years that it didn't record a ride, I think you are actually doing very well. Most I know experience a fair amount of software issues with Garmin devices which includes missing portions of rides, lost entire rides, inabilities to sync, etc. If you look at Garmin Edge 810 support ...

  • Re: rims

I run a set of Maker custom built carbon rims (from Tristan at www.wheelworks.co.nz) which are 25mm external / 17mm internal width. I use those with 25c Continental 4000s clincher tires on my 2015 R3 and it fits just fine. My wheels are stiff and dead true, I suppose if you had wheels that were a bit flexy or out of true you MIGHT get a bit tight ...

  • Re: New S3 Seatposts

I believe all of the recent S series bikes use the same post (you have to cut it down and taper the edge for an S5 though.) I noticed watching MTN/Q in the Tour de France that some of the new S5s they rode used a two position post and some the single position one - same frame. It seems to be on the Cervelo site, though the picture is of the ...

  • Re: Endurance vs. Race fit + stack/reach

Generally the largest difference in "endurance" vs race geo bikes is the stack and reach. An endurance bike will be made for a more upright position to accommodate people with less flexibility in the back and hamstrings (or just folks that don't want to ride super aero). That typically means a higher stack for the same ...
