  • Re: "S-Series" vs S3

Actually I was lucky enough to be at a Cervelo talk with one of the composite engineers. There has never truly been a hi mod lo modulus Cervelo, as he put it the right modulus for the situation. So that is just a marketing thing and not an engineering thing. Carbon lay up is a very complicated business and they have special programs to decide ...

  • Re: "S-Series" vs S3

the interesting part is when you look at the frame only price (disc option) the S3 is $200 more than the S-Series.... and specs are the same so does that mean the S3 is a lighter layup? I know at one time the difference between one model number and another was the weight when they came out of the mold, but in some cases the layup was different ...

  • Re: Still riding a 2010 S2...Am I missing out?

I agree with Kronan, when I had my frame built up I specified a Wheels Mfg thread in type replacement for the BBright so that it was less likely to be a PITA.  So you have 2 similar opinions on the difference, I have had the S2 from back in the SLC days as well I have an S5 VWD version and I have to say I really like the S3, but if $ ...

  • Re: Still riding a 2010 S2...Am I missing out?

my advice is got to you LBS and take an S3/ S2 for a spin and I think you will be impressed.  I found the S3 a very different bike in a number of ways to my older S2 (2014).  The seat stays do soak up road buzz and bumps, the headtube seems stiffer and the bike seems to steer better on descents than any Cervelo I have had before.. ...

  • Re: Cav has an opinion on the S5 as 5 year old design?

Thumper88 I have to totally agree with your comment: " The current s5 is within a watt or two of the top bikes. It's not something a human could notice in a 1600w sprint. Or at any other time on the road." and he has that ultra special ultra light paint job, that is probably worth, what, a couple of watts, if not a ...

wrong thread, this one is not from the last Tour de France, this is a week or so ago when Cav did not win a sprint and complained that his S5 was a 5 year old design.

  • Re: Cav has an opinion on the S5 as 5 year old design?

he does seem to be an all or nothing sort of chap... today he wins and exclaims, he should have kept fighting to the line and if he had finished second instead of rolling over the line further back yesterday he would be in the elader's jersey.... but it very uncommon (possibly unprofessional, and though I have no way to know but I think ...

  • Cav has an opinion on the S5 as 5 year old design?

to quote from Cycling News :"I think we're always at a disadvantage with the aerodynamic differences between our bicycles. We've got a five-year old bike and I know how fast that Venge goes. But that's not what won it. I should always be able to make up that advantage because I've got more watts. But today I was ...
