• Re: Chain Ring Bolts

11 Treks is way up there above the call. Way to go! One of my favorite fun rides and for a good cause. Wish I could do more of them. Yes the old 2006 Specialized Allez Comp has a threaded BB. Didn't know a Press-fit BB would not like the wet ride as much. I did ride through a cooling torrential downpour well into the last half of the Maine ...

  • Re: Chain Ring Bolts

I've only done 5 Treks Across Maine, but one in particular was monsoon like with pouring rain for the first two days. Bikes were not outside at night at Sunday River, but we rode through miles of standing water. Definitely the wettest ride I'd ever experienced. My chain suffered and the grinding noises became pretty horrible toward the ...

  • Re: Picture of your Cervelo

Your R3 looks really good dkane. My head set spacers and stem get moved around some from time to time, so understand. That SLK crankset/chainring also looks great. Keep riding!

Or... keep the R3 and get an S. That way you can certainly cover more cycling events and situations.

  • Re: 2018 R3 seatpost

Just by the images on the Cervelo site, it definitely looks like there's a flat trailing side on the seatpost that corresponds to the seat tube shape. Probably will not allow for any rotation when inserted or especially when tightened. You might want to visit a Cervelo dealer to make sure. There could be a way to rotate seat at the top of ...

  • Re: R2 Love...

Thanks again. Looked at the adaptor and saw the new R3 with Ultegra on the Cervelo site. Shimano not taking email due to volume. Must be a lot of us asking the same question. Hopefully no adaptor involved. Encouraged, and will see if my LBS has a definitive answer if Shimano is actually making a BB for BBright.

  • Re: R2 Love...

Thanks for the info. I want to incorporate that 30t gear with the Ultegra R8000 mec for climbing. Really want to know if the new Ultegra R8000 groupset BB fits our rather unique BBright.

  • R2 Love...

It was a great buy, and glad I found this leftover bike at my LBS last year. The way lighter aero carbon wheels on my R2 has made it my favorite bike. I even recently used it for the "fairly flat" Maine Lighthouse Century on September 9th and it made that 105.5 ride an easy fun jaunt. Perfect weather helped. I'm still looking to ...

  • Re: Cervelo r3 with tri bars

Agree with cawright. I have an R2 and it's plenty aero compared to other bikes I've owned, especially with good aero wheels, but it still doesn't compare to my now older Ridley Noah. An S3 or S5 would really be the better bike if you want to get the most out of aero bars. The aero clip ons on your R3 will improve comfort and make it ...

  • Re: New bikes, new looks, new specs...

Until the next super light super strong material comes up, I think most bike manufacturers will just keep refining their products incrementally. R series were tweaked some, and the R5 especially with a slightly more aggressive geometry, a more massive squoval down tube and stiffer rear frame that the Pros wanted. Haven't looked to see if the ...
