  • Re: "disadvantages" of 2012/2013 S5 bikes

I've got a 2013 S5 (bought as a "last year's model" in 2014) and love it. I've raced it, trained on it, and ridden it for pleasure here and on holiday in France. I've not ridden one of the newer ones but... - you can still get the front end fairly low if you err on the smaller side of frame sizing (I've had both ...

  • Re: Expected life of carbon clenchers?

I've found aluminium rims vanish horribly quickly given what they have to deal with on UK winter roads - I've disposed of rims through wear after two winters, and I know clubmates have worn them out even faster. I was planning on getting a pair of aluminium winter wheels from Spin Industries (I'd already got a lovely deep section pair ...

  • Re: Rotor PF4624 hack for GXP cranks?

The Hope converters work fine - I'm using them with a PF4624 and a now-rather-old SRM GXP powermeter crankset. Have had this set-up for two years without problems - not sure if an alternative version with 22mm taper was even available back when I fitted it all!

  • Re: Flexi seatpost for Cervélo S5

Comfort on the S5:- I can cheerfully do 5-6hr rides on mine without any distress Down There. My personal comfort recipe:- -Latex inner tubes as recommended by http://nyvelocity.com/articles/interviews/josh-poertner/ inside supple tyres - Vittoria Evo Corsa -Sensible tyre pressure as per Vittoria's website - I'm 67kg ...

Good man! Much as I hesitate to wish problems on others, it's nice to know I'm not the only one...

  • Re: 2013 S5 Seatpost head pivoting

It's torqued up well into the territory it should be. The problem seems to be that my previous saddle suited a slightly different angle of tilt, and the splines on the cone-shaped insert have worn slight indents on the mating face of the tapered hole. Consequently the head will only clamp tightly where it was before, or one-spline's-width ...

  • 2013 S5 Seatpost head pivoting

I've got a 2013 S5 with two-position seatpost head, and I have the clamp in the forward of the two holes and saddle set slightly past halfway back on its rails. I've got a carbon-railed saddle (Spesh Romin) and a Cervelo oval-rail clamp unit. My problem is that even with the central bolt/nut tightened about as far as something clamping ...

  • Re: Aeronova

I've got an Aeronova Team on my S5. Installing the cabling was "challenging" but once done looks very neat. They're comfy - the hoods and taped section just behind fit nicely into the palm of the hand and because the tops sweep downwards the palms sit comfortably on the lowest part with the wrists naturally turned slightly ...

  • Re: Headset bearings

Yes, those ones will fit. I've just used them to renew the rusted mess that my lower 2013 S2 bearing had become. As an alternative, you can get stainless steel versions here:- http://www.ukbikestore.co.uk/product/402/cane_creek_bearing/cane-creek-headset-bearings.html - I've found they last longer.

  • Re: rotor Q rings

I've used round, Q-Rings and O-Symetric over the past dozen years, and prefer the Q-Rings. They feel just like round rings but go around strangely easier, especially on long hills. Local shop reckons they're popular with older riders as they're kinder to the knees. I've got a SRAM22 "yaw" FD, which works perfectly with a ...
