• Re: Gore Cables on an R3 frame with Sram Red
I found Gore cables didn't improve shifting in normal conditions but definately helped in salt air and sand.  I have a weekend bike I use near salt water.  The LBS told me to use Gore cables after I brought my bike in with corroded parts.  They work and this is the fourth year with no ...

  • Re: Compare R3 across year

In response to the OP's question, an unfortunate accident with my '07 R3 led to me getting the '09 frame on a crash warranty.  The 3T fork feels ever so slightly different from it's predecessor but not in a way I find easy to articulate.  Beyond that there's no discernible difference at all.  Other than the fact ...

  • Re: Help Riding the Soloist Team downhill

NO!!!  This is not normal.  Finding the cause could be difficult, however.  Start by searching for "death wobble" and "speed wobble" on this site.  I would advise finding a short steep hill that will let you get up to the relevant speed quickly.  First, if possible, borrow a different road bike and get ...

  • Re: Tax return = Sram Force or Reynolds Assaults?

Get the Assaults.  I have no view about the wheels themselves but, in terms of improving performance, wheels have a much bigger impact than a gruppo.

  • Re: Fluid Trainer

I'm now in my fourth winter with the Fluid 2 and am very happy with it.  I cover roughly 1,000 trainer miles over the winter and it has been extremely reliable - although I, too, broke the rather flimsy yellow handle within a couple of months.  I treat the replacement a lot more delicately and, until a previous poster mentioned it, ...

  • Re: Best Race Clinchers for Triathlon?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.  Aero wheels will make a difference in a triathlon, aero tires?  Not a chance - too many other variables for that to matter.  If you want to change tires because you're bored, fine.  Otherwise stick to the fortezza: it's a good tire in its own right and (most importantly) ...

  • Re: Mountain to Road Pedals: Worth the Effort?
Leave the mtb pedals for mtb or cross, riding a Cervelo in those is like driving a Lambo while wearing a track suit: often seen, just not very classy.
Yeah, but can I drive the Lambo just as quickly in a track suit as in anything else.  If I make the change, do you think I will notice any ...

  • Re: Mountain to Road Pedals: Worth the Effort?
if you get the road pedals, you'll need road shoes (get Sidi's preferably  white ones) and start keeping your bike and your clothes a lot cleaner than when you were passing yourself off as a dirt bag mtn biker
Yeah... about that... cleaning, maintenance: not a fan!  One ...

  • Mountain to Road Pedals: Worth the Effort?

Some advice please... Started road biking three seasons ago and have been using Shimano mtb pedals and Specialized mtb shoes with no complaints.  Grinding away on my trainer the other day I have become conscious that there appears to be quite a bit of give in both the shoe (2 years old) and the cleat (new) as I pull up at the bottom of the ...
